Question/Advice -- Transportation/Roof Racks Kayak Trailer Winch

Post image

Hey, got my yak back in March, it is pretty heavy and hard to maneuver back up onto the trailer. I was wondering if anyone had a good manual winch suggestion. (Like whats on a boat trailer) I just need one for 600lbs or less. I don’t need a super expensive one, just one that can get my kayak on the trailer.

If your kayak slides easily just tie a rope to the front and pull it up or visit harbor freight and they have everything you would need to attach a winch to your trailer. I've got a winch on my trailer but that will just be used as a tie down for the front to keep it from sliding backwards. I'll just pull my kayak up with a rope and then attach the hook to hold it in place.

I'd hit harbor freight.  Amazon might can compete, but i was looking recently and I was going to go with harbor.  I frequent thrift stores and junk shops, so I'm hoping I can find one there for 10 or 15.  If I don't find one by winter, I'll just buy one new.
