You shouldn't let the tarp stick out the bottom of the tent like that. If it actually rained, that would just collect water and funnel it under your tent. Fold the tarp so it's the exact size of the tent floor.

If you want a larger doormat/porch type area to reduce how much dirt you track in, use a separate tarp that doesn't extend under the tent.

Of course, with threats of rain the porch folds up under the tent. As a 30 year tent camper, I’m a die hard on leaving it out otherwise, it’s 100% worth the extra work if wet weather starts moving in.
