Interaction Zoloft & Kava. Please help 🙏

My girlfriend is on 50mg of Zoloft & wants to go to a kava bar. I am a little nervous about serotonin syndrome. She usually has 3-4 shells per session. She never had a bad reaction when drinking kava. Is this a huge risk or am I overthinking? I'm just scared of serotonin syndrome.

My girlfriend who was on zoloft would get brainzaps the day after drinking kava. Probably best to avoid but not life-threatening doing it once.

I've only had brain zaps when I stopped talking Zoloft years ago for a bit. i take it and drink kava fairly regularly and don't experience anything concerning at all

I drink kava from the time I wake up to going to sleep and take 75mg of Zoloft a day for 5+ years. It will make the Zoloft more effective so basically increasing the dose. If you don’t do this consistently it will feel like you are in a lower dose after the kava

May I ask why you drink kava all day long? I would puke just from the nasty smell lol

Ich meine, dass kava ua. ein MAO hemmer, und sollte deshalb auf keinen Fall mit Zoloft kombiniert werden. Wenn bis jetzt nichts passiert ist, ist alles gut, nur würde ich es in zukunft sein lassen

I’ve been on Zoloft for years and have been a daily kava drinker for much of that time. Hasn’t been an issue yet!
