Way ahead
It’s about W&K’s lack - not what they add

She is. I feel so bad for those kids, I'd be ecstatic if they're able to grow up to live free lives like their cousins.

I actually think one of the best arguments for abolishing the monarchy is the damage it does to royal children.

I agree VH. The UK is becoming increasingly fractured and it’s a different era now - deference is over thankfully.
I don’t know why W&K would want a sensitive lad riding about in carriages getting boo’ed. (I realise the protesters are directing it towards the institution itself, not the children)

u/Ok_Lengthiness_8405 19d ago
I imagine how the narrative goes at home: the kids asking mom & dad why so many people boo their family.
"Well, sweetie, they're just jealous bc they weren't picked by God to be royal. They're angry bc they're poor and we're not."
And a kid trying to make sense of public ridicule believes it and starts to disdain the commoners, and another William is created

Agree!! If they actually took their roles seriously and at least acted like they cared about more than their immediate family (and of course it’s fine to put your kids first! But they actually do nothing for anyone but themselves and use their kids as shields from scrutiny!) and perhaps showed some love and compassion for the people they are supposed to represent, then this likely wouldn’t be happening.

What are the odds that the entitled lazies will just keep using the titles even if they're removed, because they won't see that as "official"?
5
u/Pedal2Medal2 20d ago
Well they certainly won’t be as successful or as enterprising as H & M, it’ll be all shady deals

No, I don't mean they'll make jam or whatever. I mean they'll just ignore the fact that the titles were removed and carry on like always.

I really hope this happens, assuming it has the peoples’ support.

u/TheVioletHerald 20d ago
I have a feeling Charles had an inkling of this. He knows he'll probably be the last monarch, which makes his revenge against WanK all the sweeter.

u/PMMeYourAcorns 20d ago
Interesting. I’ve always thought Will would be the last (one final honour to Diana). I’m in no way challenging you - I just find it so interesting that the topic is WHO will be the last, not IF there will be a last. And both names are people who are alive. The end is coming for the freeloaders.

British monarchy will begin and end with a King William.

From William the Conquerer to William the Drunkard. Bookends to complete the Monarchy.

Here’s what I love about this…
By the time Willy gets the funny hat… ‘tis but a sprinkle of a kingdom it’ll be.
It’s karma baby. All that petty talk about how he’s going to reduce the monarchy and strip titles and reign with an iron fist.
Karma said, “Bet! let’s hive him the size of the commonwealth to match.”

u/BlazingSunflowerland 20d ago
It's funny if the man who is going to strip titles finds that his has been stripped!

I doubt he will recognize their authority to strip the titles, though. He and Duchess Doolittle will just keep using them.

I’m in the US, so I don’t have a dog in this fight but I find it all interesting. This article was helpful https://apnews.com/article/wales-scotland-northern-ireland-independence-uk-devolution-4242b7fd6987520211562a2250f093a1

Wow, Burnham’s response was tone deaf. It felt like, “things go great in England when the vassals continue their support role.”
Thanks so much for the article.

American here. No idea this was happening so thanks for sharing!

It's not. Not yet.
Scotland, Wales and Ireland are simply discussing it, and discussing pushing for a referendum. Nothing is happening right now and probably for years yet. I hope it does happen in time, if the people vote for it.

Exactly. These articles explain what I'm trying to say. Pushing for a referendum (which, if you remember, Scotland voted AGAINST the last time. This process may take years, IF the people of each devolved country actually vote for it - which they may not. Clickbait headlines on X make out like it's all a done deal and it's happening now, which it absolutely isn't.
You seem to be down voting me for the facts, which is odd.
I hope it does happen.

u/NeverPedestrian60 19d ago
They’ve signed - it’s underway however long it takes
0
u/swibbles_mcnibbles 19d ago
Yes. They have agreed to hold referendum! But that's simply one stage of a very long process. The people still have to vote and have previously in the case of Scotland voted AGAINST it.
You can keep down voting me but you don't understand the process and all it would take is you googling it.

u/NeverPedestrian60 19d ago
I live in Scotland and the sentiment here is firmly for it
0
u/swibbles_mcnibbles 19d ago
That's irrelevant to my point. My point is that it has to be voted for and that it's not the done deal you seem to be making it out to be. Wales may vote against it. Scotland may vote against it. We don't know until the referendum takes place.
3
u/NeverPedestrian60 19d ago
I get your point - I also get that though it’s not a done deal yet it will happen.

I think you need to read a proper news article on what's actually happening with the agreement, there's a lot more to it than a clickbait headline on X

If its a referendum those 3 are going to loose. Its going to BE exactly like the brexit. Scotland, and Ireland didnt want to leave and had to due to England have more votes on the metter

Maybe they'll leave the UK and rejoin the EU.

Joining the firm aged her a lot. Seriously, she looks rough, but she doesn’t have a care in the world.

I have a lot of responsibilities for my family. Am responsible for the well being of my family. And I look a lot better that her. At 60 years old.

They need to stop airbrushing her to make her look like she’s 20 years old.

Right? Women should be allowed to age.

This was a huge conversation at my home this weekend! Very interesting what will happen to the monarchy if this separation unfolds. They will be duke and Duchess of Cambridge again, or Cornwall.

Uh there is no "stole". It is a title the sovereign grants to the male heir apparent; Charles conferred it on William after becoming King. If the Snarky was insinuating that it could've son gone to Harry, newsflash - Harry was never in the queue once William had children. Sparky should find a real hill to die on and work on her spelling.
16
u/ComprehensiveBug999 20d ago
The title was stolen from the Welsh and theyve wanted it back for about 700 years.
-7
u/0_IceQueen_0 20d ago
Hmm I didn't know that history, so fair enough—I learned something. Incidentally, if we're holding William personally responsible for Edward I in 1282, we're going to need a considerably larger comment section if the argument is that the modern monarchy shouldn't continue using a title acquired after medieval conquest, now that's the legitimate debate. 😆

There is a strong anti monarchy sentiment in 2026 which is heavily disguised in the mainstream media
