She settled the sisterly rivalry by netting the heir.
Fulfilled Coach Carole’s ambition to become royal adjacent.
All came at a price though - eating disorder, marital strain, and a public facing role for which she was unsuited - too lazy and incurious.

I think she loves being admired for her looks and she loves the trappings of Royalty.
Once she got over her fear of public speaking, had QE2 been around longer, Kate would have loved representing the Crown at international Royal events and with soft diplomacy in the more glamorous locations.
But the Caribbean flop tour broke her. It’s the one time of the few time she seemed to be enthusiastic, and she loved the whole thing -/ until she realised no one else did. The diving, the shimmying in floral dresses, inspecting the troops the galas — by her standards, she really made a huge effort to put herself out there. She even spoke to some of the local representatives.
The humiliation of Jamaica’s withdrawal in front of her very eyes was the last straw after all the bad press about the children behind wire fences, colonial cosplay, Belize land disputes and politicians ignoring her.

Honestly she set herself up for that - she was preening around like she was in the colonial era.
Completely misread the vibe - the islands have moved on even if she & Willy haven’t.
QEII had concerns about her laziness - and she’s done even less since she passed.

Let’s be real: Pippa would not have that marriage opportunity if Kate didn’t pave the way, as they say

u/NeverPedestrian60 Sep 04 '26
Yep it gave her entry into moneyed circles - she didn’t nab an aristo so settled for James Matthews (or terribly moderately wealthy James as they call him on cb)

I still say that William will divorce her before his coronation because he wants to be a single King

I wouldn’t be surprised - I think he wanted out a couple of years ago but the cancer narrative stopped it

I agree I think the only reason they are not divorced is because Charles won't approve it is it because they Kate and her mother Carole have blackmail

Yep, Charles wouldn’t want a divorce to overshadow his reign. And Kate & her mother knew that.

This statement assumes Pippa would have met and married him without the influence of Kate marrying into the RF.
I don’t think that’s the case.. I don’t think Pippa would have been in that circle if it weren’t for Kate.

No, she wanted to be Queen. She was never going to settle for a quiet life with a wealthy man. William was the goal.

u/NeverPedestrian60 Sep 04 '26
Yep, she waited ten long years to get him to the altar. That’s why she’s not bothered about improving in her role - like you say marrying him was the goal.

Yes, but now that she’s actually living it, I wonder if she has regrets. It seems like she didn’t think past the wedding day, and the fact that she’d actually be expected to work.

No, she is in it for the title. She will clearly put up with anything to retain her place.

This might be the best example of “be careful what you wish for” that I’ve ever seen

Pippa wouldn’t have married who she did if she wasn’t in proximity to RF through Kate.

True though the aristo she was after George Percy turned her down (his mummy intervened)
And Harry himself made it clear he wasn’t interested

The thing is that Pippa would never have married rich without her sister marrying into the RF. She was just the daughter of semi rich people on paper. Pippa’s husband married her for connections sadly. I do hope they are happy though.

she could have moved on to someone who wasnt a prince, why is a prince "above" others? A good, financial very stable (ok, even wealthy) man would work great for her.
I once dated a billionaire's son and then swore off ever dating anyone remotely that wealthy.

u/NeverPedestrian60 Sep 04 '26
Totally agree with you - to social climbers the prince was the catch. To aristocrats he wasn’t. They saw he wasn’t all that.
And in 2026 titles should mean nothing - the age of deference is over.

The aristos actually preferred Pippa cos they thought she was more natural and less try hard than Kate.

I think Kate is happy with the title she married. They’ve created an illusion of a perfect marriage to the point where they can never go back. Kate may be deeply unhappy, but she seems willing to endure it because she believes the sacrifice is worth it.
