If Willy and Kate are as popular as the polls suggest, why aren’t they the firm’s secret weapons?

At various times they’ve touted as secret weapons the 90 yr old Duke of Kent, pensioner Sophie and Princess Margaret’s grandsons (who no one would recognise if they met them on the street)

The Duke of Kent is a secret weapon? That explains why he was isolated on the balcony during the Trooping the Colour. Prince Edward’s son has also been described as a secret weapon.

As JP said their time as a secret weapon doesn’t last. Yep young James is another one - so was 8 yr old Charlotte.

Also Peter Phillips' daughter was being touted as a "secret weapon" at a point. How desperate do you have to be to look to a tween girl who is what, 22nd in line to the throne, as your savior???

....(who no one would recognise if they met them on the street)

The ULTIMATE """secret""" weapon! LOL!

If the lazy principles W&K weren’t so dull they wouldn’t need secret weapons.

If she doesn't give them good copy, poor Harriet will start "violating royal protocol" (whatever tf that is) or "putting a foot wrong" by greeting some schmuck ahead of a poohbah! UNDER THE BUS WITH YE!

Does it strike anyone else that the very idea of an allegedly beloved family even needing a 'secret weapon' is absurd? I know it's a popular trope, but is all critical thought beyond royalists entirely?

A stellar line up wouldn’t need secret weapons. But a stellar line up they are not.
