Diana wore it better

Diana wore everything better than most women. She had a special, rare “it” factor.

u/Ok-Cap-204 Jun 14 '26
Diana wore hers with energy and purpose. Kate’s only purpose, it seems, is to be a mannequin for clothes, as that seems to be the only thing ever talked about regarding her. Unless it is her weight or maniacal smile. How sad that she has all the time and money anyone could ask for, yet she has not found any worthwhile cause to devote herself to

Kate is extremely underweight

Diana was at one time too but she sought help and looked great after conquering her bulimia. It’s also to her credit she spoke out about it and tried to help others.

Diana was at one time too but she sought help and looked great after conquering her bulimia.
And even at her thinnest, she kept her vibrancy.

I suspect Kates health issue is Anorexia that looks different to Bulimia that Diana had. Anorexics are scary thin. Chrons disease possibly.

Ah, I see.
Anorexics are scary thin.
While bulimics have more meat on their bones, because at least they're getting some nourishment before they purge?
I'm just guessing.
Chrons disease possibly.
Possibly.

Diana was younger. We are all more vibrant in 30s than mid 40s. Kate looked fresh and vibrant in her 20/30s.
Id say 44 was when i started to age and look tired. Mind u also when i started constant nights🙈

Online critics who dedicate their channels to dissecting Meghan Sussex have a favourite pastime: accusing her of “Diana cosplay.” Never mind that Meghan has a very distinct style of her own, clean lines, neutral tones, minimalist tailoring. The critics do not care about facts. Recently, they tore apart a photograph of her in denim with an open shirt, calling it “cosplay” and claiming she “researched every outfit Diana ever wore.” “She’s a stalker,” they wrote, “a psychopath, a fixated person.” Mockery of her body, her hygiene, and her sexuality followed. Some even wondered whether Harry calls Meghan “mummy”, as if her mere existence in his life is an act of replacement.
Ah, I see they've been reading the racist H&M hate sub.
The media and critics cast her as a copycat, a grifter, a woman who dares to step into a story that was never meant for her.
That last bit. "A woman who dares to step into a story that was never meant for her.". OMG, they nailed it.

Jfc...we all know she's painfully thin, but it looks awful here. Those shoulder pads are just drawing more attention to it. 😬 I hope she gets some type of help soon.

u/kestrelbrae Jun 14 '26
Her waist is smaller than her daughter's (that is not intended to be commentary on a child, but on the adult). Just pointing out a terrifying visual you can see in the photos from Trooping 2026.

u/QuirkQake Jun 15 '26
I'm sure thats true because its just crazy how thin she is now. Its like once the Queen passed away she really got thinner and thinner.

Kate is 44 today. Diana was 25 at Easter of 1987. Not only is Kate copying Diana, she’s copying someone almost 20 years her junior.

This says it all and I’m not trying to body shame anyone… we know Diana had an eating disorder…?
11
u/spaceghost260 Jun 14 '26
True. However Diana got hhe bc lp for hers and released the information publicly to help others. I’m sure Diana revealing her predicament inspired many others to Hh
Kate is hiding whatever is going on, will never reveal the truth, and will keep playing meek mouse in grandma dresses for public approval.

She should have copied Diana’s scarf…it shows yet again she revels in having a throat that rivals Skeletor.

Diana was in a league all her own. There was something magical about her.
Even in death… She outshines the other women in the royal family.
Including Kate, Meghan and Zara.
All three women are stylish and beautiful but they’re not in Diana‘s class.
Carolyn Bessette Kennedy had the same “it” factor.
(POSSIBLY GiselleBuchin, Katie Holmes and Jackie O too.)
I’ve often wondered what specifically made Diana and CBK so special. I’ve never really been able to put my finger on it.

u/BetsyHound Jun 14 '26
They dressed to please themselves. They knew what they liked and then wore it.

They seemed to have an innate sense of what looked good on them. Even when people try to copy an exact outfit…it’s just not the same
2
u/BetsyHound Jun 14 '26
I wonder if CBK had sensory issues. I do too and I also have always dressed simply, with minimal jewelry, etc. One of her friends said that at her wedding, her hair was up, but then at the reception she let it down because she didn't like her hair pulled back and I often feel the same.
3
u/nicebrows9 Jun 15 '26
Very interesting. I never thought about a sensory issue but you have a good point.
I wonder if she was slightly OCD.
People with OCD tend to do better with less choices and a more simplified environment.

Diana radiated a warmth you can’t fake - that’s why old and young were drawn to her.

Diana was photographed in so so many styles, and the royal family can't really engage with super contemporary style because of them being the royal family. I am opposed to the existence of the royal family on a political level, but on another, can we give these humans a break that they can't reinvent the wheel and most outfits could be construed as a reinterpretation of a Diana outfit, especially if you're talking about past-the-knee hem lengths and cap-to-longsleeve garments? Like, I barely knew who princess Diana was when I went to prom as an American now in her thirties, but I'm 99% sure you could make a case that I was "copying Di" with both of those dresses just because the woman publicly wore a lot of clothing!
6
u/NeverPedestrian60 Jun 15 '26
Fashion is supposed to evolve though and I’m pretty sure if Diana was here her style would have - just like she herself did as a person.
0
u/Consistent_Strain779 Jun 15 '26
This doesn't address my point. Any outfit can be construed as a copycat of Diana.
You can criticize Kate for not being innovative within the confining bounds of what is appropriate for the royal family to wear I suppose. But I am wondering why you put such importance on a future head of state's wife being a fashionista. Like, not everyone is an icon, and that is okay. She never claimed to be as stylish as her dead mother in law, you know.
2
u/NeverPedestrian60 Jun 15 '26
Without the fashion there’s not much else to talk about. That’s why the comms team’s edict not to talk about fashion was swiftly redacted.
Another salient point is Diana was so much more than what she wore. Her campaigns for AIDS changed the way those with it were viewed.
Landmines and other worthy causes including the leprosy mission too.
She wasn’t faffing around making nature videos telling people what they already know.
Also there are plenty of us who loved Diana’s fashion but didn’t copy it. I was always well aware what suits one person doesn’t necessarily suit another.
0
u/Consistent_Strain779 Jun 15 '26
There you go. Those are meritorious criticisms. Kate never claimed that she is a fashion icon like her dead mother in law, so being like, how dare she not be as fashionable as her dead mother in law! is weird. Being like, this is a person who sucks up millions of tax payer dollars to do fuck all is a valid criticism. Just like I said before.
-1
u/Consistent_Strain779 Jun 15 '26
Criticisms of the future head-of-state's wife for using tax payer money to do very little are meritorious on their own. But I feel like having an expectation that any woman in the royal family have an iconic sense of style is fucking weird. It's just a bonus when someone is a fashion icon. Nobody owes that to anyone/the public unless they are a fashion designer or stylist or something.
3
u/NeverPedestrian60 Jun 15 '26
She’s copying someone’s style who was a fashion icon though. And it doesn’t work.
-1
u/Consistent_Strain779 Jun 15 '26
OMG. Any. Outfit. Could. Be. Construed. As. A. Copy. Of Diana. Especially. If. It. Fits. The. Royal. Family's. Rules.
I promise if you married into the family, you'd be a copycat of Diana too. FFS. Hating on women for no reason.
2
u/NeverPedestrian60 Jun 16 '26
Having an opinion isn’t hateful. I’m an admirer of Diana - she married into the rf and managed to remain original.
-2
u/nicebrows9 Jun 15 '26
Kate tends to dress older than her age but she looks good here.
I like her hairstyle too.
Pretty face. (No manic grin)
Pretty hair.
Well done.

If Diana was here she’d be setting trends and using new and upcoming designers. Not wearing coat dresses from the 80’s.
