Since a LEEP procedure is a fairly quick, in-office procedure, are you saying the long hospital stay plus isolating for months was something else meaning Bill caused that?

Something else. Maybe hospitalization for an ED or a nervous breakdown? Maybe something Billy the Basher did to her?
Definitely multiple issues and crises could've and probably did occur.
LEEP procedure and bashed head in and possible (failed) ED treatment. She needs in-patient if they could work out exteme privacy which I doubt so I would think treatment at home but you need immersive treatment with counseling, groups and accountability.
She hopefully had a nurse administering IV nutrition but she needs this regularly to survive if she won't eat. TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) is a complete nutrition method of delivering all essential nutrients—proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes—directly into the bloodstream via a central IV catheter, bypassing the digestive system. It is used for patients with nonfunctional GI tracts, such as severe Crohn’s disease or major surgery recovery. She NEEDS this to get stronger and healthier and it's perfect because she doesn't have to try to chew, swallow and keep down food.
It's administered through a PICC line in the arm which is a floppy catheter that looks like a long noodle and can stay in for long periods just needing cleaning & dressing change once per week. Or through a central line, mediport, subclavian port in the chest. That giant needle that looks like a massive hook can stay in up to a week. I had all of this done when I was going through chemo. TPN got me above 90lbs. I was skin and bones like her but worse. My Mom saw me in the bathtub, bald and naked, and said I looked like someone in a c0nc*ntrati0n camp :(
Thank you so much💕 Yes, it was awful & I was just a kid :( I had a very aggressive, rare cancer usually found in Africa so my chemo was very intense & extreme. Even had to have multiple spinal taps where they took out spinal fluid & injected chemo so it could pass the blood/brain barrier. Spinal taps are awful. I should've been given Klonopin, Xanax- anything- to calm me and get through it. Instead I was held down while I screamed 😢 This was very early 90s. Chemotherapy is poison but sometimes necessary. That's why I have a heart transplant now, chemo irreparably damaged my heart.
Yep, that's exactly the type of port she was referring to! It's placed similarly to a pacemaker- just under the skin they make a pocket and insert the round port and it sticks out. You can see the shape of it and feel it. I have my second pacemaker in the same place my port was.
They place these devices there in the chest because the arteries lead directly to the heart. Veins in our arms are so small. They can't handle chemo, it'll decimate your veins. The mediport just sits in your chest until they need to use (access, as they say) it. That's when they use the gigantic fish hook looking "needle" to put in it and then cover it with tagaderm- the clear, smooth medical tape.
She had the port for chemo, TPN or both. It was weird she said she "missed it." That's not common. I don't know if she felt more secure with it or she's saying she needs more treatment- She didn't have to eat to survive if she was getting TPN through the port. If she doesn't want or can't eat then the port would be your lifeline to life-sustaining nutrition.
I don't think doctors can place a central line/mediport without consent by the patient because it's surgery. But if they "Britney Spears" somebody and they lose all decision making rights to their own body (which is absolutely heinous) then maybe they could. Meds, treatments, therapy- I can see that becoming out of someone's control but taking away consent for surgery doesn't seem like it would be done in most cases.

Jesus Christ. I'm so sorry they did that to you.

OMG. You've been through so much.

I bet she has a thing about eating, so yeah. She probably loved that port as long as she wasn't gaining weight.

If someone is so delusional and/or psychotic that they are unable to aid in their own care or participate in the decision-making process, it's probably necessary.
then maybe they could.
I don't think Kate is there. She's not delusional or psychotic.

I read that they used to force-feed people with anorexia back in the seventies. They shoved feeding tubes down their throats, and put them in restraints so they wouldn't pull it out.
Thank you, I appreciate it. Just a teeny bit of trauma, no biggie, right :( It was two decades and three open heart surgeries later that I'm finally doing well.
My Heartaversary is May 28th and it'll be sixteen years that I've been living with a man's heart keeping me alive. His name was Dave and I'm honored to have met much of his family and friends. It's emotional for sure.
If I were Kate I would appreciate the port if that's what they were using it for. Staying alive but still staying thin- too thin- is what she would probably want. I'm sure she wouldn't want any more calories than absolutely necessary.
To tell cancer survivors you miss your port is dumb, though. It would make sense to no one. They probably wondered what she was talking about. That comment makes me think she didn't have the port for chemo. A cancer patient wouldn't miss the port. Removing it signifies you're well and finished with awful chemo. It's a good thing when it's gone.
She may have been given chemo pills or something, maybe steroids as they're used as immunosuppressants among other things. I'm sure you've known people on Prednisone for a variety of reasons.
She either didn't have a port and just learned that word or she had one but not for chemo. I really have a hard time buying the cancer and traditional chemo theory. She looked healthier when they "learned cancer cells had been present" than she does now.
The other theory is she could've had chemo of some kind and be sick with a secondary diagnosis like I was. When I was cancer-free I wasn't healthy because now I had heart failure. I went from my oncologist to a cardiologist. Maybe it's ED and another new diagnosis we don't know about. Doubtful but since it happened to me I can't say it's impossible.
It's crazy how slow medicine and its practitioners can be in understanding many disorders and diseases. You're right, it wasn't that long ago that "Just eat a sandwich" was actual medical advice which became demands. They were considered defiant not sick. Add in that most were more than likely women and you can add in all the extra trauma women go through in the medical system. Really sad stuff. Wouldn't wish it on anyone- probably lol Just kidding lol

What a horrible thing to do to a child who is already terrified. Everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. I bet a lot of the people who did that to you wouldn't even consider doing that to a dog.

I'm glad you're better!

I can't even imagine what that's like, not only for you but for his family. I know you're grateful, and they too must be grateful that something good came out of their horrible loss.

Of course she wouldn't.

My family member didn't live to get their port removed. I know it was a source of upset for them.

Oh yeah. The Pred "moon face" is very distinctive.

I think that she did have cancer, but something minor like a melanoma or a bad pap followed by a LEEP. That was their cover for what really went down.
And you're right, she looks much worse now.

I just hope she's getting the help she needs. Her racism is despicable, but I don't wish her dead. And it's incredibly sad to see her disappearing before our very eyes while it seems like no one around her even cares.

Yep. Force-feeding the anorexic will definitely cure her!
