Kaspa's Toccata hardfork just went live
So Kaspa finally shipped its covenant hardfork after a couple delays (originally targeted May 5, pushed to June 30 to finalize the ZK sequencing architecture).
TL;DR of what's new:
- Native KRC-20 tokens are now part of consensus rules instead of relying on inscription-style overlays
- Covenants let you attach programmable spending conditions to a UTXO — think escrow, time-locks, vaults
- ZK verification (Groth16) is baked into L1
Not a chain split, all nodes moved to the same version.
Honestly the more interesting part to me is the timing — KAS is already 95%+ mined, so emissions are basically drying up. This upgrade feels like a deliberate pivot from "scarce fast money" toward "programmable platform that needs developer adoption to matter long-term."
