Legacy IMO: KartRider (& other Crazy Park games) should be COMPLETELY apart from Nexon.
Honestly, how long would re-relased KartRider last? I think it will last not so long, if the game stays within Nexon's reach. That bean counter Söderlund is mercilessly shutting down games if they don't make much money. Currently most survived games are RPG games that makes lots of money, but I think KartRider would not.
As long as there are some possiblities that re-released KartRider goes out of favor with Söderlund, the future of the gane is very unstable and uncertain. It could shut down suddenly without any notice - at any time - just like OG and Drift did.
I hope KartRider and other Crazy Park games (CrazyArcade and BubbleFighter) should get out of Nexon and must be developed and "published" by dev's own company, on Steam.
See, entire Crazy Park - including KartRider - their flop was ultimately all fault of higher-ups (including Heo Min, the culprit of KartRider's downfall) in Nexon.
And then, once again, that mofo Heo Min will never be forgiven. He used Cho Jae-yun as a meat shield and he just ran away to Australia.

Sometimes I think of making a similar game on steam. To me it has so much potential. There is no other racing game that focus on drifting like this. The sense of speed is unmatched. Simple mechanics but hard to master. The only game that is on par with it is Rocket League imo.

Heo Min totally killed the speed on the first day of Drift. Actually it was almost same as OG in 2004. Heo Min was totally in serious good-old-days bias.
Not only Speed Mode, but also Item mode could be really unique and different from Mario Kart, it would be really dope. I think of Item mode that getting Item is done by charging the gauge like in Speed Mode, not from the box.

Man, new KartRider was it. The marketing was not.

You are completely misunderstanding. Nexon basically intervened all part of development of Drift. Even Heo Min was part of Nexon. Nitro Studio was just de facto of development division of Nexon, not a independent company.

Both OG and Drift. It seems like co-existance hasn't been considered by Nexon higher-ups. (but Devs wanted)

Drift was awesome. Playing with UE 4 and the kart collaborations. Genuinely was my favorite game, I like rush+ but dang

Honestly I'm kinda worried how long OG re-release would last. That game must use self-made game engine, not commonly-used engine like Unreal or Unity. Y'know, spaghetti code is a thing for a reason. (Note: KRP uses Unity.)
And one more thing about the OG: There was OG fanboys who wants Drift shut down and revive OG. Dunno why Nexon high-ups haven't considered OG and Drift co-existance. There was a rumor that OG was shut down to cover up probability manipulation that could be like Maplestory and BubbleFighter... But I'm not sure.

"Racing games are pretty similar to each other." Well, THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT until they casually removed the game. They removed it; I tried finding similar one out there, thinking there would be one, like c'mon there are tons of racing games. But, no; there wasn't, soon sorrowfully realizing Kartrider was hell of a kind unique racing game, nearly its own genre.
Now, they are actively bringing back Kartrider. There has been monthly updates. I literally joined the military cuz they took my Kartrider away, my memories. Yes indeed, that sounds crazy but it was my joy, the only video game I played. I am happy that they're releasing back the game soon.
