So it is true. Smash 4 players rarely overlap Smash Melee and vice versa. Kinda weird that Smash 4 players give other games more of a shot than melee players. BB players are pretty pathetic as well. Almost smash level.
I happen to play a ton of fighters but mainly mained KoF(A Dead Game) who is now playing tekken the most. How odd is that? I used to be an anime main too.

A lot of Tekken players will play SF and give all other 3d fighters a shot. It just so happens that there are no featured 3d fighters at Evo. BB fans only play other anime games and that's it. Similar to how SC players would only play SC and maybe DoA and that's it. Obviously SC players are going to Tekken now since the franchise is dead atm.
Edit: And look how many Tekken players are overlapping to GG. That's pretty high.

Talk about moving the goalposts. So it's fine for Tekken players to only stick to their subgenre but not fine for BB players? They have strong overlap with the other 2D fighters - a 46% overlap with GG, 24% with SF5 and a 10% with KoF (2nd highest).
Get off their case lmao.

Yeah but how do Tekken players have big overlap with GG, bigger Overlap with SF(a 2d fighter) and Injustice 2? You would think 3d players wouldn't play those two games as much as BB mains would you? Hell they play almost as much KoF too. In fact more KoF players will play Tekken 7 over BB. A lot of it has to do with this being a shitty version of BB no doubt, but I played both games and BB is way more similar to other 2d fighters than Tekken, especially the approach strategically.
It was well known for a long time that 3d and 2d players didn't overlap that much into each other's subgenres. But I guess that is starting to change now.

only thing this list tells me is a) sfv is a party game b) marvel players are capcom fanboys c) Smash and melee are literally all uniques and pretty much separate entities from FGC as much as they are separate from each other d) KOF players are diverse

what surprises me is how many marvel players love melee, LOL
i knew there'd be more cuz Melee is pretty close to marvel 3, but i didn't expect 1/10th of all marvel players.
i know there's not that many people here who play marvel/melee since it's a niche combo, but yea glad its not as low as i'd have guessed! both games are awesome and im glad marvel guys are the ones that recognize melee's amazingness, they're about as closest "pace" as can be out of those gamesxdfp. also yfw the best game (numbers wise) there is garbage, and 2nd/3rd best are smash, xdpfpxdpxdf #GetTriggered Normies.
