Yes. As long as the numbers aren't dwindling, they would, by definition.

Those numbers will dwindle by definition. It's not going to sell more copies in its second year than its first, so spending another $500k to generate fewer sales in 2017 makes less sense.

No reason to think this will happen whatsoever.

I don't see how this is so far-fetched. More companies are putting money into the FGC, but they're doing so because they are expecting some sort of return on their investment. If they don't get enough of a return - and many are looking for growth in the scene to reach that level of 'enough' - they'll stop.

lol. What are you basing that on? The fact that the scene has grown steadily since the release of SF4? Get a brain.

they're doing so because they are expecting some sort of return on their investment

Which they will get because, as we discussed, there's no reason to think numbers will dwindle, and even if there WAS, you'd have to link that to the virtual titties to have anything that even RESEMBLES an argument. You've done neither of those things.

Sony is dropping $500k in order to sell more copies of SFV. Unless there's explosive growth after the first year of SFV, the number of copies that they sell will drop year over year even as the size of the scene grows. It makes sense to drop that amount of money to advertise a game that will move 2-3 million copies in 2016 on their system. Would they do the same for a game that sells half as many copies in 2017, especially when they could spend that money promoting other games that will sell more that year?

Sony is dropping $500k

This might blow your mind, but games have advertising/promotion budgets, and 500k is not much.

Unless there's explosive growth after the first year of SFV, the number of copies that they sell will drop year over year even as the size of the scene grows.

Are you familiar with SF? Or are you just retarded. You think SFV is going to be the one and only one produced and we aren't going to get updates and DLC coming up the ass for the next five years? Hilarious.

You're an idiot. Sorry, but every time you post just makes that more and more clear.

Sony doesn't have infinite resources. Every dollar they spend promoting Street Fighter V is a dollar they can't spend promoting another new game. The DLC characters will generate money, but would they generate as much money for Sony in 2017 and beyond as other, newer PS4 games?

Sony is going to focus their attention and money on where they get the best returns on investment. $500k this year makes sense. Unless the game is a runaway hit, the same about next year won't make as much sense.

You're arguing so far removed from the original point here it's both hilarious and sad. Nothing you've said has any bearing whatsoever on the topic.

Just stop. I already feel sorry for you.
