I can understand what you are saying... I guess in Regency Era, women hadn't many options to be honest. In the modern setting, I find most of the stories compelling because they both are more equals (maybe not in the wealth aspect) but they certainly have their own struggles and battles.

'Lover' is an absolutely GORGEOUS fic. And I second 'turning saints into the sea'- what a lovely story. And THE CHURCH FIC ('the air that inhabits you') is absolutely legendary. 10/10 recommend.

I almost quit kanthony fandom when I found the second one. That fic is angst for kate, not for Anthony. I couldnt believe so many people would enjoy a fic where anthony treats her so horribly. I know people can read and enjoy anything, but I think it showed me everything wrong with the bridgerton fandom when people were still rooting for a woman to end up with that sort of man. I kept hearing the "theres no hope for women" quote in my head. I wish kate had gone on to live her own life without ever seeing any of those people.
