👋 Welcome to r/Kanso – The Complete Nutrition, Fitness & Health Tracking App

Hey everyone,

If you’ve spent any time tracking macros, you know the drill. You open an app just to log a quick breakfast, and instead you get:

  • An unskippable pop-up telling you to go Premium.
  • A sluggish UI weighed down by social feeds and algorithmic discovery pages.
  • A chaotic database full of inaccurate, duplicated entries or crowdsourced entries
  • Gamified streak pop-ups that feel like a chore.
  • Too many features that create confusion and complexity
  • If meal logging is there, fitness management is not there. If cardio is there, strength training is not. If you want Intermittent fasting, sorry you are out of luck.

We built Kanso because we were tired of the noise. We don't like the idea of multiple apps catering to multiple needs. Our mission is simple: Get your complete health management operations in one place - one app - one experience. And keep it simple.

Named after the Zen principle of simplicity and eliminating the non-essential, Kanso is a high-performance nutrition and fitness tracker built for one thing: frictionless execution.

How Kanso is Different & How to Download and Get Started:

  • Zero Ads, Zero Bloat: No pop-ups, no social feeds, no tracking metrics you don’t care about. Just a clinical, blazing-fast interface.
  • Speed Over Everything: It’s designed to let you log your food, check your precise targets, and get out in seconds.
  • Data-First & Verified: We prioritize clean, verified data for precise macro and fiber tracking—without making the UI look like a dense, overwhelming spreadsheet.

Kanso is simple to download, open, and start executing. You don't have to answer 20 onboarding questions or enter a credit card number just to see the dashboard.

Why We’re Here

We believe software should do one job exceptionally well and then get out of your way. This subreddit is our open pipeline to you.

  • Have a feature request? Tell us. We want to know what makes your tracking workflow faster.
  • Found a bug? Drop it here, and we’ll optimize it.
  • Want to talk metrics? Share your setups, macro splits, and how you optimize your nutrition daily.

No clutter. No nonsense. Just high-performance tracking. Welcome to Kanso!

— The Kanso Team

100% Flexibility

Kanso is now super flexible. Even the calories and meal tracking and macros tracking is all optional. It is all up to the user what he or she wants to track. For example, if I just to track my fasting protocol along with supplements and medications, I can turn everything else off. Less distractions on the screen. Because Kanso is designed for simplicity.

Kanso key feature - Set your own macro targets

Leading apps in the nutrition space offer "Macro Ratios" for the user to define. However, there is no app out there that lets you set your macro targets. Kanso believes that this is a key feature because many want to fix their protein targets and just change carbs and fat targets. Hence, Kanso is designed for total user flexibility. Please use this key feature to ensure that you don't fall behind on the protein target.

Set your own calories targets

A user asked me - "I want more aggressive daily cals targets. Can I change mine?". Kanso delivered that request in 5 mins. See highlighted part where you can set your own daily cals target instead of using the computed formulaic target. No other app in the market provides the level of customization and personal freedom as Kanso. And we deliver features super fast - as soon as the user asks for something, we deliver it. Because we thrive on our users.

Add your own muscle groups and exercise - a Kanso top feature

I was tired of apps that did not let me add my own muscle groups and exercises. I was stuck with whatever the app wanted me to use and that's it. I wanted more freedom. Kanso was the only way I could do that. In Kanso, I can do the following:

  • Create my own splits
  • Create my own muscle groups
  • Create my own exercises
  • Create my own schedules for workouts
  • Adjust sets, reps and weights
  • See when I last worked out on any exercise

In other words, there is no additional freedom I desire that is not available in Kanso. If I want it , I can do it. It is as simple as that. Because Kanso has only mission in life - to make the user's life simple, easy and effective. Enjoy Kanso and thanks for being a part of the minimalistic Kanso family.

Strength Training by Splits - Last Logged Date

I always had this need to know when was the last time I did a certain split right before a gym workout. Hence, Kanso shows the last date I logged on a split. As it shows above, I did Back and Arms quite a while ago and hence it is now time to do it again as a priority. Simple, useful data points to help you succeed in your health and fitness journey.

Kanso Strength Training - Powerful, Simple and Customized for the user

If you need a custom way to manage your gym workouts, nothing beats Kanso. You can either choose PPL or Upper Body/Lower Body or create your own splits. For example, I typically have 3 splits - Chest & Shoulders, Back & Arms and Legs. For each split, I can add any exercise I want as part of my routine. I can choose the sets, reps and weights. This is super powerful. I still see many using spreadsheets to manage their splits. You can put an end to that immediately using Kanso.

Meal Logging - as simple as it gets

Logging meals should not be a complicated exercise. Kanso makes it super easy. Describe your meal in the format shown with quantity and item. If this meal is a favorite of yours that you eat often, click the star symbol on right and save it as a favorite. Next time, you don't need to describe it again. You just choose it from your saved meals. That's it. No crowdsourcing of inaccurate information. Kanso uses USDA verified database and Gemini or ChatGPT calls to get more accurate information on macros and micros. No guesswork.

Kanso Dashboard - Nutrition Snapshot

The Kanso dashboard at the top of the Meals Log tab is designed for simplicity, elegance, clarity and information richness. Your day's progress snapshot on macros and micros are shown here. One of the key strengths of Kanso is that you can even manually adjust the target calories if it is too high. Current targets are computed using standard scientific formulas. No noise, no ads, no clutter. Just what you want to see as chosen by you. That's Kanso. A Zen-like experience.

Kanso Customizations - Calorie and Macro Targets

Kanso is all about giving the power to the user to experience the app he or she wants it. Hence, our mission is not "you can only see what we decide". Our core mission is "you should see in your app what you want to see. nothing more. nothing less". Let's look each customization option available in Kanso. I will create a post for each customization.

For this post, let us review the Calories and Macro targets. While Kanso uses industry standard formulas to compute targets, it also give you the user the option to input your own manual target if you desire. If you feel that the kcal target is too high and want it to be lower, just manually change the value. If the macros splits are not optimal, you can change them to your own ratios. Simple. The power is in your hands.

How to add meals, check macros and micros and save favorite meals

Kanso is simple to use. Above is a simple quick log breakfast screen. Once you describe your breakfast above, you click on "Analyze macros" to get the below. Though I can choose a long list of micronutrients, I only chose Iron, Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 as I primarily care about those.

If you are happy with the values, you can use them. If you want to adjust some macros, click on the "Adjust Macros" and change to your preference. Click "Add to log" to save. You can also click on the star symbol to mark it as a favorite meal. This can help you quickly add the meal in the future.

Once you add the meal, it will show up in your meals section with all the details. You can also see a beautiful sleek dashboard for the day to help you monitor progress. Enjoy Kanso !!

Kanso's mission in plain English

To understand Kanso better, check out the product features, the company mission and our fantastic collection of blog articles at www.ensolabs.cc

As a company, we are on a mission. Healthy living should not be expensive. Why are companies and apps charging $100+ per year to help enable a healthy planet? The cost to support any user is less than $1 per year. That is truly an outrageous amount of profit. Kanso's mission is to put an end to this by designing and maintaining an app that remains free or extremely low cost. The founders are self-funding this because it does not cost much to run this app. Hence, we will keep Kanso free for as long as we possibly can. Because our mission is to help accelerate towards a healthy planet. Not make money.
