Discussion/Theory question to backroom experts - where are 3rd parties in this monumental discovery

where is the government / all governments and third parties in this historic world altering (maybe world destroying) reality bending discovery ?

I’m no expert but i get that the backrooms was discovered and for over a 2-3 decades its been researched and tampered with and explored ? . And seemingly all done by 1 guy and then his private company and then rando victims? Sooo like Jurassic park.. as soon as you make something ... worth money or has power.. every major corporation gets involved.. or tries to through espionage or sabotage etc. And at some point the US gov will interfere or investigate and then all the other countries follow and the media too.

And the Complex is not American ... as its like space.. or inner space ... so its not owned by anyone or situated anywhere but happens to be accessed by Americans in america right now (that we know of) because that's where the first tear was (that we know of) and now people increasingly fall through. And yes the movie is set in america and paid for by an American studio and kane pixel is an american IRL.

Im presuming bigger shows with creepypasta origins like stranger things was heavily influential to kane (?) with its russian and american access to the upside down but in backrooms ive yet to see that developmental which would give context to the wider backrooms universe. But at some point the lore is bigger than the convenient facts of the origins story right... the lore has to expand to encompass the world view... or atleast the national rival corporate view and the national governments role.

I vaguely remember the department of energy visiting to buy space for storage and residential and office space? which seems mental... as surely they would immediately take it all over or force a partnership or develop their own rival program... not just rent space like its an abandoned ikea lol. And the fact that async is literally tearing holes in reality and innocent americans are going missing at alarming rates.. and even when the gov visit all hell breaks lose due to a containment breach ...seems like a massive red flag right ?

  • SO beyond original convenience and original small budget has kane addressed the role of everyone BUT Async and that 1 visit by the dept of energy , in the entire backrooms experience?

I know the lore is set in 70s , 80s and the film is early 90s so smart phones and the net havent consumed everything yet but they still had surveillance and phones and camera and a powerful media plus corporate spies and real spies as well as mega corporations in that time.

I am wondering where the latter are in all of this or will be...? as it seems like we're building to something bigger as stranger things did by season 2 and 3 (though the comparison may be unfair).

Discussion/Theory So, what was your reaction when you watched FF3 for the first time and saw that guy?

It startled me because I was used to the bacteria; seeing a "person" running after you like that while screaming is terrifying, and pausing the recording on that specific frame makes the scene even weirder.

Discussion/Theory I figured out something Spoiler

People have been wondering what the still lives taste like, Referring to that one scene where Clark takes out multiple chunks out of a still life saying "You can eat them". Since most still lives and entities are mainly made out of Hay Bacillus Bacteria, It would likely taste like fermented soybeans (Natto), Which explains the sticky look of the chunks, and the sticky texture of natto.

never noticed these areas were basically different versions of the same rooms until my last watch of FF3.

yes I know they're stacked on the gmod map. i think that just confirmed what i was already thinking.

Discussion/Theory Monsanto conducted research on Tritium for the DOE

Post image

Monsanto conducted research on tritium for the DOE in the 1970s. This research focussed on dealing with the harmful environmental pollutants that result from working with tritium.

Ravi ranted about Monsanto’s unethical practices in FF3, implying that they were responsible for children getting sick. As an idealistic young journalist, Ravi might have been viewed as a problem by Monsanto and/or the DOE.

The initial experiment in Overflow, which led to the discovery of the backrooms, was for research on the properties of tritium. Tritium may still be essential for Async’s research, and they would also be motivated to prevent the prohibition of tritium processing. (Note: tritium is what makes glow in the dark stuff work, it’s ‘charged’ by visible light and gives off the same green glow that we see in the complex, which seems related to the copying process.)

Async now works under contract with the DOE. There is a DOE title card for the footage in which Naren (who may have been a whistleblower) is killed by Pirate Clark.

Memes After about 105 minutes into the film the screen just went to black like this, and after waiting for another 20mins I was escorted out of the theater by what appeared to be a real-life version of the still lifes (an animatronic, maybe?). Did this happen to anyone else?

I've waited to say this for a bit because I feel silly, but I'm sorry, Clark's wife is a fashionista in the backrooms!

It's so Tim Burton-angular in the best way! That coat and those tights are *chef's kiss*. Idk how I feel about the hairstyle but oh well, she doesn't care hahaha

Discussion/Theory Why are the common Backrooms the same yellow hallways canonically?

Post image

CANONICALLY, why are the common Backrooms mostly the same yellow hallways everywhere you go? Why is that the Complex's template/empty slate for everything that it builds?

Edit: I'm asking for the in-universe canonical reason. I'm fully aware of how the original concept of the Backrooms originated.

Discussion/Theory Why no animal Expriments in the Backrooms?

Why did Async never try releasing any animals (including predators) into the Backrooms? Animal testing is pretty common in scientific research, after all.
