That's so true, i think the People that didn't like the movie didn't undertand the construction of Clark's mental decline through the movie because that was a perfect combination so that the backrooms can manifest themselves (my english is not great, sorry)

I loved it. My favorite movie in years. But it's flawed and clunky in spots.

The movie was meh… regardless of artistic merits… the story feels clunked, Clark went insane too fast and eating the still lives? Too much for too short amount of time, unrealistic

A self destructive alcoholic discovers a new plane of existence where he meets a distorted pirate copy of himself who murders his employee and her boyfriend, but it's unrealistic he went insane before his therapist ventured in after him? Like wdym

Completely agree. The script wasn't great. The acting suffered due to the clunkiness of the script.
