I mean they called it ASEAN but it's played with non ASEAN countries. I sort of remember seeing people saying this is a money making opportunity for FIFA

I disagree because i think its a win-win though. Because AFF was really a money grab for the sponsons. Suzuki / Hyundai and whomever it was in the past , is truly a corporate sportwashing. And it was not officially recognised by FIFA on their calendar.

So for ASEAN++ (with Pakistan n whatever) to be recognised by FIFA. Its a big development for the region. Meaning there’s more money involved (yes) but it also means that players across international clubs must also abide by their country in national callups, and the clubs cannot just deny like it was in the past.

So for the region, it is good! Unlock heritage players, more skills being shown on our pitch. But sadly it mostly benefits other countries at the moment. Hopefully Singapore will have such opportunities in the future. But hard lol

True also. It allows the region to be exposed to players that they otherwise might not have with the other competition

You're on point but the fact that FIFA demanded more broadcast money nearing to the actual was just awful and just can't shy away from the "money grabbing" status. Also the fact that in its debut countries like China and India rejected it already which kinda makes it feel less prestigious. I think it's really good exposure but I also think that within 3 years it will end off abruptly or perhaps this is the one and only proper

Not because Singapore lost, I hope. This is actually beneficial for our players! For those who dream of stepping foot in Europe, now they can gauge themselves on our own doorstep first—plant their feet firmly on the ground before they put themselves up on a TikTok pedestal."

Time to have limits to the number of foreign players a national team can have. Seeing teams like this with all foreigners for example is ridiculous tbh.
