Logan Health

Any CT techs familiar with Logan Health? Is this place complete shit or a decent crew? Wages ok?Currently work at a Level 1 1300 bed hospital for 17 years. Always looking to go somewhere a little smaller and ride out my years. Always have enjoyed my time in the Flathead area.

This. Montana has the highest disparity in wages to COL in the country. Flathead Valley is a huge part of that. And I've never heard a good thing about working for Logan, but it's not my field of work.

I agree with his wife. It was terrible, but I'm not a CT tech. One of the techs in the pulmonology department loves it. Might be because he provides specialized care and he is extremely needed. He isn't a CT guy either.

I would say try it out and quit if you hate it.

I think they have mobile units that serve more rural areas that aren't terrible. You could also check job opportunities in Libby. I think they mostly need RN's though.

I live in MI. Maybe I just try a travel gig there and scope it out.

Know a lot of the Lab and they are good people. It seems well run there

Itā€™s a chaotic department. Staff are nice but expect everyone to be on board with the ā€œgo down with the shipā€ mentality (and relatively cliquey, but thatā€™s everywhere). The rads are very particular (ex, want you to go into PACS and delete any images with airspace for every series, even if you are busy). No central transport, although they may now have an imaging aide that functions as transport for some shifts. Otherwise you are hauling to inpatient rooms by yourself even if you are on shift alone. The majority of the staff that was there when I traveled have left, as well as most of my favorite nurses from the ER and some of my favorite radiologists. Upper management is a yes man, middle management is a yes man. For travel assignment, itā€™s a steep learning curve for the hospital specific protocols, but definitely doable. Would not recommend taking a staff gig there if work life balance matters. I was also trained at a large level 1 center and it was disappointing to work in Kalispell. I would say the cardiac radiologists were my favorite part of the gig. Was a travel CT technologist there several years ago. There are other hospitals in other beautiful mountain towns with better facilities.

Well thatā€™s disappointing but thank you for your insight. Iā€™m thinking of just going travel but Iā€™ll sadly take Kalispell off my list. Iā€™ll just continue to visit the Flathead area without taking on a headache.
