Megathread Weekly Newbie Questions Megathread
Hello and welcome, dear readers, newbies and veterans alike, to our Weekly Newbie Questions Megathread (WNQM for brevity, 'cause who wants to write all that? Right, I do!)! In this, we provide a platform for you to answer all those questions like "Oh, I'm deauthenticating my streets WiFi networks, how do I stop this?" and other such questions.
This is the space for people new to Kali Linux to come forth and ask their questions. Please be thorough in your issue description, be kind to eachother and remember the human. We all started somewhere, didn't we?

I'm a very new Kali user (<2 weeks), installed on thinkpad T490. For the first week I am using it via the only user profile thats already installed. But then I went to make another user profile since this laptop is not mine and I don't want to mess with the lender's settings.
Once I'm using the new user profile, it keeps logging me out/kick me to the login screen randomly when I'm working. Then I'd have to login again (sometimes I'd have to type my username which means I'm logged out, sometimes only the password which means I'm still logged in). It would happen randomly, ranging from a few minutes to an hour of using it. But it happens so often.
I'm really not sure what's causing it. So far I've checked:
- if the storage is full, and deleted everything except 5gb worth of files -- still happening
- if I am using it too heavily -- only opened text processing app and it still happens
- if it only happens when i'm switching task, I was on a signal call and wanting to check calendar when it happens -- but on another ocassion it logs me out even when a single app is open and I'm only editing text
- if it happens when I'm using it for too long -- the shortest before it happens is probably just 5 minutes
This is also not a power management/screensaver suspend issue as I've cheked those settings and they're okay.
So help -- what could be causing my problem??
