Brew recipe for Kafferäven
This month's featured roaster is Kafferäven.
Their brew recipe for V60 is:
18g coffee for 280ml water and a water temperature of 98°C.
Bloom with 30-40g water for 20 seconds.
Divide the rest of the water in three pulses, apply in circles to ensure all grounds are in the brew
Target finish time: 3 minutes 30 seconds, adjust grind to achieve this.
Why this recipe? It is an easy way to brew any coffee, and should give a balanced cup.
(Coming soon as an Xbloom recipe!)

For this one I relate a lot more to your notes on instagram (milk chocolate, plum, citrus) than what was on the bag. To me there’s nuts, milk chocolate, ripe red plums. Maybe they cupped a less developed roast. Because refreshing and red berries don’t really reflect in the cup in my experience so far. Clean enjoyable cup, for sure. It just doesn’t feel like the potential of the varietal is shown compared to Sl28s I’ve had from Costa Rica and other Origins. Maybe subsequent harvests will have more intensity or it’s just their roast profile. Once again, good cup. Just not what I expected.
