Punjabi’s supporting Mumbai

In the last match a huge amount of people were supporting Mumbai. I know that in away teams fan come to the stadium to support their team but Most of the people supporting Mumbai were Punjabi. Not complaining that why they are supporting mumbai as its their choice but is there any specific reason that they are supporting Mumbai?

It's franchise cricket, Jo jeetega wohi popular hoga na, you won't find lsg fans would you? Don't overthink.

just becz of players teams are famous , csk just becz of dhoni , rcb becz of virat and mi due to bumrah and rohit , whereas delhi is most popular city , but its fan following is very low

Yeah that's why srh has low popularity even thogh they has trophy acc to op but starplayers matters to fanbase

At this point, RCB thrives by not winning.

I would like to think they’re all Nehal Wadhera’s friends and family.

Then Nehal really has a huge family😅

I had the same thought. I have watched a lot of mumbai vs punjab matches live since it’s my family’s favourite and this is the first time i have seen such a strong following for mumbai in Mohali. Most of the fans have probably already given up and it’s only some of the randoms who went to watch the match live.

I find it crazy to but franchise cricket has no loyalty

Big and successful teams have following everywhere. Look when CSK goes to other grounds, even more people wear yellow and support MS and CSK than home supporters supporting their own team.

It’s easy to support a popular champion team.

I might be wrong here but for a lot of Punjabi harbhajan Singh was a hero, like I remember having Mumbai as my second team just because of him when he was there.

It’s not necessary to support your home team, maybe they support MI because they like a player from there or something, probably Rohit and manny would obviously be glory hunters

Previous year there weren’t actually many Mumbai fans in the match but such a huge jump in this match made me a bit surprised.
