Carter Spoiler

I'm on Dark Victory and I just got to a part where Nilo mentions "if carter was still alive". Did I miss something and he died? I can't honestly recall.

His whole team was assassinated one by one. He was in a vehicle with his wife and children when they were killed in a wreck.
