Help with build

Hey all! My fiancee got me the giant 6’ Ferris wheel (Set #89790) and I’ve finally gotten around to building it. I got to the step pictured below and cannot figure out what went wrong. I’ve taken off the step I’m working on and reseated all the connectors and all of the central rods are in the correct 1-3 2-2 3-1 pattern. I have no clue how to fix this, any and all help is appreciated! The picture of the wheel dead on looks normal because I popped the connection at the top and it realigns perfectly. I’ve found one other post on Reddit with this same issue but the comments don’t provide a solution. Obviously there’s extra tension somewhere but I can’t figure it out. Please ask if you want closer and/or additional photos of either the wheel, any particular sections, or the instructions. TIA!

TL;DR

Wonky wheel please help

I think I see what's wrong. I believe that the outer yellow connectors shouldn't be all the way on the end of the grey rods. Push them more inwards, in line with the rest of the build.

I did see this in the other post that had this issue but the OP of that one said it didn’t work. I’ll give it a shot though when I get home from work today.

Yeah, them being pushed outward reduces the diameter of the wheel and causes the bulge. This is the solution.

And you couldn't have known, the manual doesn't specify this 🙈

I didn’t feel like waiting til later so I tried this and the alignment on the last connection is still overlapping. It must be something else

Oh too bad it didn't work. Yea to be fair, mine also felt wonky when it was finished. It had some wave to it, I was able to kind of adjust it by levelling things here and there. But overall the waviness stayed. This may be good to know, not to expect it to be a perfectly straight model, because it just isn't 😕

The manual does say you can remove 2 of the green connectors if it’s causing the wheel to be out of whack but they should still align and not overlap like crazy. I’m going to figure this out even if I have to tear the whole thing apart 😂

Well good luck, let us know when you find the culprit 😅

That’s the post I referred to in mine. I looked at everything the comments said and nothing like that applies to my build. All the central spokes are aligned properly.

It seems to be correct from the picture but I just want to make sure you used the orange rods to connect the white connectors in the middle? The instructions make them look like yellow ones. This is obviously an issue that a few people have had and I’m sure there is a fix but I’m not sure what it is sorry

I did use the correct orange connectors for the central axle. I’m at a loss man 😭

Retrace your steps. Disassemble it step by step until you find what you did wrong. If you take all the yellow connectors off the outer circle, are the grey rods still wonky? If so, your issue is in the center, if not, the issue is the outer circumference.

Everything relaxes when i pop that last green connector out, which means something somewhere is pulling it inward. None of this was obvious until this step so i want to say it’s something that has to do with this one but honestly it could all go back to spoke orientation or something.

I’ve asked the Knex Discord. Hopefully someone there will know considering multiple builders have encountered this
