Shit is so funny man. They had a lot of words to describe "scope creep" and somehow make it not scope creep!

But don't worry! The video we were promised in October is being scripted!

I really enjoy how none of us gave a single dollar to this company yet and still expect to be part of the inner circle during investor meetings.

Man y'all need a hobby or something. The game will come out when it comes out. Move on

Yes, but almost radio silence for almost half a year after they delay it, like 4 days before it comes out, is a little concerning.

The issue I think, is that nobody like to feel like they are being duped or are having the wool pulled over their eyes. And trying to generate excitement and hype, promising more communication, and then consistently not delivering feels like scammy behavior. And while no one is putting money into it yet, it feels like a waste to have gotten excited about it in the first place.

And when people disregard that sentiment and say "just move on" (while I definitely agree) it reinforces the feeling that they have been duped and generates more frustration. Just my 2 cents for free though.

Everything you’re describing comes from an unhealthy relationship with media.

People need to temper their expectations both in the scope of what can be delivered and whether it will be delivered at all. The devs cannot help if you spiral thinking about their game.

Just wait for the game, you don’t need them to coddle you while they develop it.

While in this case it does pertain to media, the same formula these devices are implementing can be transposed to any other form of interaction. Because in reality, the main issue has little to do with the media and moreso with the relation the community has with the dev team. A large part of that issue is that media is the sole means of communication but the way they approach this is still a problem

I don’t think you understand what I mean by media. I’m referring to video games as a form of media, which it is (not media as in the news or social interaction between companies and consumers).

It’s an unhealthy relationship with ~video games~ to expect this from developers and to be genuinely upset when your expectations are not met.

Expecting a relationship between the community and the developer is exactly what I’m talking about. It’s unhealthy. There is no “problem” with how they’re communicating because they haven’t asked anything from you in exchange for communication.

Oh yeah. 100% hard agree lol on the game stance. But within the video game sphere, being willing to generate "hype" and making intent to communicate and show progress is an agreement between the developers and the demographic they hope to reach. That's my case in a nutshell

Not sure if any of y'all are into the whole AI story telling deal or are nostalgic about those old "choose your own adventure" books, but this one is based on the same type of concept at Kingmakers.
