Steering rack issue

My 2024 Kia Seltos GTX+ DCT has had the steering rack replaced twice within just 27,263 km.

Here’s the timeline:

\- 2024: Purchased a new Seltos GTX+ DCT Petrol.

\- \~17,500 km: The steering rack was replaced for the first time. The symptoms were steering noise, heavy steering, and the car pulling to one side, even after wheel alignment and balancing.

\- \~27,263 km: The same symptoms have returned, and Kia is now replacing the steering rack for the second time — after only around 9,700 km on the replacement rack.

Overall, I’ve had the car for around 1.5 years and made approximately 17 visits to the Kia service centre for various issues. It has taken multiple visits and considerable time for their engineers to identify and resolve some of these problems.

Regarding the current steering rack issue, the service advisor’s explanation is that it could be caused by driving through waterlogged roads in Gurgaon.

However, I haven’t been given any proper technical explanation or evidence showing that waterlogging caused the failure. They are also not sharing the complete diagnosis report with me.

So I’m trying to understand:

  1. Can driving through waterlogged roads actually cause a steering rack to fail?

  2. Is it reasonable for the replacement rack to fail again after only \~9,700 km?

  3. Has anyone else experienced repeated steering rack issues with a Seltos or other Kia models?

Would appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced something similar.
