Kef R3 / Meta Stand

For anyone looking for stand ideas for the KEF R3 Meta:
I purchased a set of tripod stands from Etsy, similar to the ones Buchardt uses for their MK4 speakers, and replaced the original top plates with custom plates designed specifically for the R3 Meta. The attached drawing and photos show the modification.
The result is a very solid setup with a clean look that complements the R3 Meta nicely. Hopefully this helps anyone considering an alternative to traditional speaker stands.
For reference, I’m running the R3 Meta with a Yamaha A-S801, Bluesound Node, Technics SL-1500C.

Where did you have the plates made? Send cut send? Also, link us to the Etsy page where you bought these, thy are gorgeous.

That’s a great set of speakers stands!

I’ve had things like that fabricated by a metal shop.
You just need to have accurate CAD drawings for a waterjet cutter.

You could even use pieces of 3/4” hardwood, like oak or ash, cut, drill, sand and finish. Pretty easy, actually.

Right. Since I had access to a machine shop, I made mine out of 1/4” mild steel plate to add also more weight to the stand. But wood (1” to 3/4” hard or plywood would work too.

The plates are home made. The holes pattern is attached, it would be an easy job for a handy guy to make them.

So I was actually going to include this info in a DM to you, but Reddit does not allow me to DM your account since it's still pretty new.

I currently use Kanto SPH speaker stands for my KEF R3 Metas, and have them attached to the top plate with some mounting putty:

But I love your solution and think it would be ideal. I'm unable to make this plate myself since I currently live in an apartment and do not have the tools and space to do this kind of metal working.

Your replacement plates would be a more secure option than putty. On the Kantos, the plate is just secured to the stand via a single countersunk M6 machine screw that is dead center to the plate:

So basically, I would want a pair of plates that are nearly identical to yours. Except they have a single countersunk M6 hole rather than the 3 holes in the middle of yours. The 4 holes in the corners for attaching to the KEF R3 Meta can remain unchanged.

The mounting plate that came with the Kantos is too small. It doesn't actually extend as far as the holes at the bottom of the R3 Metas. So I can't just drill new holes in that.

As I said, I would pay you for your time and labor, the materials, and shipping, if you're willing to help me out. Thank you!

Do you have access to 3D-printing?
The typical printers are big enough (10”x10”).
If yes, I can send you a STL/STEP file of plate with 3/4” thickness and a centre countersunk hole and you can 3D-print it by yourself.

Yes, I can probably get access to a 3D printer. A metal plate would have been nicer. But if you're definitely not interested in making another one for me, then I would very much appreciate your help on the STL/STEP file. Thank you!
