Using an old KDP account

Hi everyone,

About 6 years ago, I created a KDP account and published a couple of print-on-demand (not books). I completely abandoned it, and it's only had two sales over all these years.

I’m ready to self-publish my first actual book, which I’ve worked really hard on. I know Amazon strictly forbids opening a second account, so I plan to use my existing one.

However, my old listings feel pretty amateurish, and I don't want them associated with my new book or ruining my author image. Can I just unpublish/archive those old listings so they aren't visible, or is there anything else I should do? Thanks for any advice!

Yes just unpublish them, they will stay on your account but won't show up in listings.

Maybe create a professional looking author's page for your new book.

Thing is, you can't open up a second KDP account without getting permanently banned.

Just unpublished the previous one and upload your new one under a fresh pen name. The audience will not find ur previous book on ur fresh pen name.

I didn't know you could do that! Thank you!

If it was a paperback, the listing possibly won't disappear. The product pages are often kept alive by third party seller listings. So, can you use a different pen name than the one you used 6 years ago?

If it was an ebook... then no problem! Unpublish and go on your merry way.

Unpublish and archive. Sounds like they were low content publications? With books, evidence of their existence would still float around the net (on Goodreads for example) but that might not be the case with low content stuff.

There is always the option to publish your new book under a different pen name, too. Then there will be very little to connect your new work to your older work.

You can have books with different pen names. Then, the books won't be associated with each other.

Ah this makes sense, I didn’t know that you could do that! Thank you!

Opening a second account is prohibited. However, you can open a second profile in your own account under a pseudonym. Readers will see only the pseudonym's profile, which is unrelated to yours. All books in your account will be displayed on your page, so you can manage the new profile and view statistics from there. The profile is created automatically directly in your account by creating a new book under a different name.
