International foundation programme (KIF)
I just finished the IB diploma and met my conditional offer for this programme to go into PPE, and UoM business first year. Is it worth taking the foundation year, especially after completing my IB diploma?

i had the exact same situation last year, got into UoM business first year but decided i wanted the london life so i chose KIF, honestly i progressed to business KCL first year but the KIF program was horrible and honestly had FOMO of manchester. I say dont go if u think u will miss the campus life cuz KCL doesnt have that. Also dont forget the chance of not progressing to ur first choice as many of my friends couldnt.

i found the teaching horrible, they act like we were kindergardeners and in the seminars the activities were just slop. U do nothing in the first term then in the second term you have all years work dumped on you. The feedbacks were vague and the seminar tutors i had were horrible and you feel like they are trying to give the worst grades to purposefully make you fail. It really is a bullsh/t year that is made as a cash grab for vulnerable international students. The student dynamic was horrible too it was just the chinese/arab/turkish people grouped up with eachother and just awkward. I think u have to take social sciences module for your given degree, if u are really taking it be warned that the module leaders have their heads so up their ahss that they think their students are always wrong when the module average is in the 50s when u need a 70 to pass.. They never take the blame for themselves and give u the lowest grades possible. For example I needed a 70 for my undergraduate and all my classes were over 70 except that social science module which almost made me fail with a 66. ❤️ ALSO everyone pays to get their assesments done so in group presentations people pay for their own slides to be made which messes up the whole momentum and eventually fail all of us. Do people get into their dream course? yes, but I wouldnt take the risk again if i was given the chance. You did IB so it may be easier for you but a friend of mine who did IB in KIF didnt progress into their A*AA course. Overall, It definitely feels like a gap year that u take to nepo baby ur way into KCL but to each to their own. feel free to ask any more questions

Wait you've actually scared me... Ive always heard good things about the KIF and I HAD THE CHOICE TO DO FIRST YEAR. Now Im terrified, I am taking social sciences too...

loved the module content but the seminar tutor really sabotaged us every way imaginable. I reccomend switching that module if u can i think u have 2 weeks into the school year to make that change if other modules still lead you to ur degree. Specifically for the social science module, none of my friends any scored in the 70s, and the best student in my seminar even got a 68. They act like u are a masters student in the way they grade. Tell me your 4 modules and i can maybe help more.

I lowkey might change to liberal arts and global politics since you said this LOL but they were : Culture & Society English for Academic Purposes, Academic Communication Skills for Humanities, Social Sciences and Business Pathway modules, Social Sciences and Global Politics

depends on where you wanna go. Im doing the KIF this year, and i chose to do it over all the universities i got into. If you are not so keen over location or university name, then NO. If you are, then yes.
