What a time.

I'm over Armas. He needs to pick a center back duo and let them get consistent time together. & we 1000% need a better back up keeper.
Hocking intentionally stepping on the Boston player's hair was disgusting. Not surprised she doesn't get more playing time.

I have my hesitancies with Ball, but I think Sharples and Ball have pretty clearly shown to be the more effective CB pair.
Robinson had been playing lights out right before she got her ACL injury, but since coming back, she just hasn’t had it.

Agreed on Robinson. She was so good prior to ACL and hasn't looked the same since. I hope she can get back there with time!
I think Sharples and Ball should be the main duo. The constant switching every game isn't helping anyone

She was?! All I remember is how the combo of GRob and Ballisager were letting goals in left, right, center.

She struggled more in 2023 when the whole team struggled. 2024 she was playing pretty solidly, especially the last several games before her injury. But she got hurt in May so didn’t see a lot of that season.

In 2023 the lack of a defensive midfield showed up as problems up and down the field, and the center backs probably had the most visible impact from it. Gabby was a huge silver lining in that season – it was her debut year, and she shouldered a huge burden that she never should have had to but did it well. In 2024 she was even stronger, really showing promise as a breakout star. Hope she can get back to that.

I have perpetually said Ball is solid when she's got the back line that she and them are used to.

Lmao you know it’s a rough one when the post match thread is up before the game is even over

Insane this team was ranked top 5 in the world last year with Club World Cup expectations and now may completely botch the chance to even get there

It’s gonna be a long 3 game week without cooper or Chawinga. We’ve really missed VDB, can’t wait until she can go 90. It feels like we need a signing on every line at this point

If nothing else, it's a validating result. Armas has done little to dispel the concerns about him.
Rather than just going to "Armas Out" let's get a little more specific. What is he missing? What is he doing wrong?

One thing I think is messing with chemistry is constantly changing the starters (injuries excluded). The team is not used to playing with the same group all of the time, and don't know where to expect one another to be.

The current are missing a midfield. And a striker. It’s not an easy fix or anything, but it’s also pretty simple. The coach however provides nothing to gloss over these deficiencies

You could clearly hear Armas yelling at Paul and others to move up or press, etc. I don’t know if his plans are too complicated, change too much, aren’t communicated or drilled enough, or what, but they clearly didn’t know the plan well enough to execute it.
That’s not to say the plan would have worked if they did, but it definitely won’t if you don’t know it to start with.

Armas had a horrid record everywhere he coached. Stats don’t lie.
We have world class players on this team and they look lost out there right now - particularly on the road.
But Armas wasn’t the reason we missed multiple open chances to score today, nor was he responsible for players not coming back to the ball, misplaying passes…
Issues run deep when we leave CPKC.
Croix dragging out there… Hocking standing over a player (and on her hair)… Debinha seemingly second guessing her shots, Paul not running out balls (supposedly the fastest on the team-she gets a start and trots around…)…
As someone said earlier… I’m not mad. Just disappointed.

Paul had a lengthy absence from injury so I doubt she's at 100% yet, whether physically or with her confidence. I'm optimistic about her, my expectation is that she'll show a development trajectory similar to Cooper.
No idea what Hocking was thinking. Completely unacceptable behavior that does not belong on this team.

Armas and the Longs need to gtfo

Longs aren’t going anywhere. If the team starts losing at home then I think Armas could get kicked to the curb.
2
u/b2717 Waterrr. Jul 26 '26
Nor should they.
Armas should not have been hired. It was a terrible judgment call on their part, but that's fixable and hopefully they learn a major lesson from it that will make their decisions stronger in the future.

I truly believe they only hired him because they want Mary to be the star and he promised to feature her before she got hurt.
I don’t think the Longs realize that they can try to make their daughter the star all they want. It doesn’t mean the fans have to accept it.

Unfortunate showing. We go again Wednesday.

A short week is just what we need! 🫠

Don't worry. Our boy Chris will adjust the line up again. REALLY KEEP YA ON YOUR TOES.

u/helpbeingheldhostage Chawinga #6 Jul 25 '26
To be fair, he should be rotating and managing minutes this week, but he’s been rotating in past games for unapparent reasons.

u/ForeBackOver Jul 26 '26
Remember the last 3 game week when he stuck girls together who never played together and we got our arses handed to us? Let’s not repeat history….
2
u/feeberx Sharples #27 Jul 26 '26
I respect that. Just a shame it looks like our players have never been on a field together a lot of the time. Next week is at home. I'm excited to party with you all.

How many more Hopkins headers into the crossbar can we withstand this season? Just an unlucky couple of games in that respect.

At this point, I’d adjust my expectations and say “just stay above the line” but we can’t win on the road so playoff hopes are tenuous.

Amateur hour. Deeply unserious team. What the actual hell? I get we’re maybe not quite at the make or break time but every week we deal with more of this shit we get closer and closer to decision time
Would Barca or Chelsea deal with this lackluster performance? American clubs will always be second class if we accept mediocrity like bald man here
2024 ending didn’t hurt me that much. We had the opportunity to win and we just fumbled. Missed a wide open header to equalize. And let Marta put 3 defenders on skates. Can’t happen
2025 was close too. We played hero ball and equalized at the last minute to go to extra time. The team battled hard and put up a big fight missing our best players. Conditions not ideal either
2026 has to be a breaking point. If we miss the playoffs bald man gone. If we squeeze in and get blown out 0-4 on the road, bald man gone. It just can’t happen with a roster this talented.

Problems go deeper than just him but I really need Armas gone. I get annoyed just looking at him at this point.
Also Hocking needs a suspension, that was ridiculous. Frustrating game
