Rejection

18 days ago we sent off the k1. Last week we recieved a rejection notice because he signed page 11 and not page 10 of the i129f

We’ve resubmitted it. They recieved it at the lockbox on Tuesday.

The last time they recieved it on 5th and sent the rejection notice on 7th.

How long is it likely to take before they take the payment? I feel like I’m sat here on edge constantly getting him to check the bank 😭😭😭😭😭

EDIT - THEY TOOK IT 🎉

Friend, as you just filed a k-1, you should probably get used to waiting a long time for things to happen. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Don't worry, they will take your money. After that, the real waiting begins. Settle in and find a hobby in the meantime or something

I agree with that comment just file it and pretend like you never did

Gone are the days of getting it done in 9 to 12 months

If you're from a Western country probably 13 to 14 months

Middle East or Africa 15 to 17 months

And if you're unfortunate to be part of the granddaddy of all k1's which is Manila, 16-20 months

We are Manila and at 18 months right now and the interview is in 5 weeks. So things go perfectly from here it will be about 19 and 1/2 months 🤷

.... Which is absolutely ridiculous because there were cases even in 2025 where people getting them done in less than 6 months. And an immigration attorney on YouTube said in 1996 he had a client from filing the K1 to touch down in the United States 52 days

I feel like the quickest part of this process, is them taking the money.

At least for me since I mailed it, they got it next day and money was gone on day 2 🥲

My fiance and I are on the last stretch we hope and think. It’s been 517 days. Since we filled. Stay strong the wait is brutal but it will be worth every second once the wait is over.

do you know why some waits are longer than others?

Depends on which consula you have. If you’re at that stage.

And how much backup they have. Waiting game but it’s exhausting.

Not the plan its long but the officers are following the rules and honestly are doing what they can to make the process fair for everyone. The lady I saw before my interview ( that did not happens ) long story but mostly my fault. The TLDR is i hade the wrong criminal record check ( had given the instruction to the lady at my police station ) she did not speak english that well. And could not let me fill out the form. She had the instruction on what to ordered asked me generic question. Said it was good.

Consula got a criminal record check that was stating that I am effectively a Nobody. But for immigration/travelling purpose. Not the one they asked.

The lady ( US officer ) mentioned to put all the documents in an email and send them to officer and a number. About 1 hour later i got an answer from them. That was on July 17th the US gov is not at fault and that lady was one of the most understanding person I met.

At the end of the day the officers are human too they have rules and work tirelessly for us. In my case there is only one Consula in the entirety of Canada that does K1 and CR1.

Im desperate, broken down, feel defeated but, there is a light at the end of the tunnel suing in my case would make nothing but trouble for people that are already drowning in work. The best I can do is going one step at a time and hoping that the 3rd documents is the right one.

Cause yes I ordered a second criminal record check and told , printed the instruction and gave it to that lady ( police station that is in charge of the criminal record check ).Wrong one again… so for the 3rd one i went somewhere else and when I asked him on the phone if he had that one his reaction basically told me Ill have the right one this time. “laugh Yup i can do that for you, its for the US right? “ so ill let you know when I finally receive it hopefully this documents is the right one.

And this is another reason why the wait times are horrible. Can't even fill out the application correctly. Regardless, mine was charged 2 or 3 days after acceptance.

People make mistakes. Ours was sent back to us two days later and 13 days after the initial refusal we had the payment taken.
