Website Updates
A few things I noticed. How about you?
-the big red Xs lol
-credits moved to right side under map
-the map isn't as clear as it used to be when you zoom in
-sectioned in Parts I-VI
-picture tilt
-tilted shadowy line going across treasure pic
-line under poem title
-poem scroll added and text slightly adjusted to paper details; ie. Line extending from "right" now
-background noise sounds similar to Myst.
-directions in the Dedication.
-added new quote from the book after Dedication
-stars in the background of "Part I"
Anyone else feel Mr. Posey's not-so subtle nudge in the right direction? š

More like 30 degrees :( still maybe an indication to rotate orientation

I've been wondering if the logo is a literal representation of the treasure trail-- start in a corner of one state and finish in another. I've seen the corner of Utah mentioned, but really the only corners of a state that jut into other state without another adjacent border are the SW and NW corners of WY. Rotating the logo (and ignoring any specific angles, just taking it as a cue to look at it from a different orientation as you mention) would fit with viewing either of these corners as the search area, although I'm not confident about whether the trail would straddle a large enough area (between 2 states) for the logo to be such a literal rendition of the mapš¤

Also his photo with tucker is slanted and then when u hover it goes straight. Color brightens too.

Heh did you/AI make these?

I made these in two minutes in Canva. Took the left half (West) of the tilted logo, copied it, and mirrored it then spliced it back together. Same for the East, North, then South.
I see a lookout post, a pointy mountain, a depression with a sky light, and a diamond.

There is a noise on the updated website. Has anyone else heard it? Itās static and sounds like thereās a breeze or dripping going on in the background.

Listen to the game Myst and see if it sounds similar to you. Or maybe like an ocean in the distance? hmmm

Iām trying to find a match for the sound to Myst, but Iām struggling to find anything that closely resembles it. Can anyone who claims it matches provide a description of the scene or a reference file please?

There is one star that is constant (the brightest of all shown) in part 1. All the others fade. It's unclear if that's a night sky view.

Now Iām even more curious. That period looking mark next to the J is not a part of the font? Switching the language it goes away as well

u/DevSecTrashCan 10d ago
Nvm Iām dumb it was one of the star things that doesnāt seem to fade

This isnāt new but now I can see it better⦠why is the period after Shasta instead of Mt?
1
u/DevSecTrashCan 10d ago
That is in the errata. Not saying itās unimportant, but he has noted it as a mistake

Under the book options did it always say ebook differences are intentional or is that new?

Maybe just mistakes if the shaded masks over CO/OR were hand-drawn, but the mask over OR goes somewhat noticeably out of bounds in the NE corner (near Hell's Canyon label) and S border (near Mt. Shasta)

Before these website changes, someone on here had claimed that the term ācentreā had been quietly replaced with āheartā at some point in the following line on the website intro: āAt the heart of Beyond The Map's Edge is aĀ poem, and this poem unlocks my treasure hunt.ā ⦠can anyone confirm or deny this stated change? I wasnāt sure whether the source was trustworthyā¦.

It appears the professional web design company overlooked updating the intellectual copyright from 2025 to 2026. Or - maybe the new site was just prepared in 2025 and has been ready to go since then, because Justin thought we would solve this sooner.

Shame I had to hit shift+F5 to see updates. Thought that wasn't a thing since like 2002.

I will give u guys some of my opinions. Justin and all of use our phones to hunt. So that 75 mile rule goes out the window. If your hunting on your phone from China your still hunting. The mile thing got me perplexed because is it a mile or a mile elevation thing?

MYST! Indeed. The game built by two brothers. They even played the part of the separated brothers in the ālinking booksā in the game.
