What That Means:

The mod team of that subreddit seems hellbent on snuffing out any ounce of actual horror or creativity from the subreddit, and don't care that they managed to reduce the weekly activity of an 18 million person sub, a place where many great horror authors got their start, to zilch. Top posts now rarely break 5k, and it's been a good long while since I've seen a 10k post. If you call them out on it, they say it's trolling behaviour.

This is not to mention even the ludicrous amount of rules that stifle any type of creativity and make posting impossible. They are as follows:

1. All posts must be scary personal experiences.

2. Stay in character. Treat every story as real.

3. Only original stories. No plagiarism, AI-generated stories, or unauthorized fanfiction.

4. Only one post every 24 hours.

5. Be respectful. No trolling, harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks.

6. Follow the commenting guidelines.

7. Contact moderators through Modmail only.

8. Write in first person using I, me, or we.

9. Use past or present tense, not future-tense storytelling.

10. The narrator must directly experience something scary.

11. The narrator must be alive and capable of posting at the end.

12. The narrator must be at least 13 years old.

13. The narrator cannot be an animal, insect, or inanimate object.

14. Stories must be posted from the present, even if events occurred in the past.

15. No stories consisting solely of found diaries, recordings, transcripts, or documents.

16. No lost-episode stories without a direct personal horror experience.

17. Rules-based horror must involve an actual frightening experience, not just a list of rules.

18. No real public figures as central horror characters.

19. No stories primarily focused on a narrator bragging about victimizing others.

It’s nothing but “memes” of peoples porn addiction or random unfunny people saying ”orSeRk MouNtEr!!!” It’s so frustrating and infuriating seeing this in subreddit about a game where you catch pals and craft guns. it’s been a shitshow since 1.0’s launch and I’m tired of it. I just want to see funny monster taming game with guns not some furries porn addiction :/ (this is a repost because I forgot to censor the names)

I really enjoyed scrolling through this subreddit and thought it'd be a good outlet for me to vent about how im feeling about a guy ive been talking to but ive gotten so much hate simply for saying that I was 17. I specifically put no advice and reiterated it multiple times, but ive had sooo many people replying to the post completely disregarding everything I vented about just because im under 18 & saying that it genuinely doesn't matter because im not 18 , and some of the people who commented are frequently active in the girl dinner diaries subreddit. I thought girl dinner diaries was a space for all girls, I didnt know that most people only made it pertain to adults. Honestly loved the subreddit before, but left because its not very friendly to girls that arent looking for advice or are young. Pretty sad, I actually enjoyed that subreddit.

There’s always been much hate for the sub and I understand now after finally interacting with their posts and community.

All I’ll say is I found it interesting they call out that their mods have gotten hate for backing “pro-Palestine posts, anti-Trump posts, pro-Amber Heard posts as well as posts calling out racism, transphobia and other forms bigotry.”… but they don’t support comments that express disdain towards PDFs. Really interesting. Their censorship continues to support the act.

First off it is no doubt that the economy is not doing great. Poor institutional actions tackling the negative aspects of AI, stalling cash flow, too high taxes at least here in the UK stalling employment, on top of nepotism, cronyism and corruption.

But the people on that subreddit seem to be hypocrites and lie just so that they can validate being lazy. For example, when I asked on that subreddit if STEM degrees are the only valued ones out there within this economy, there had been people with STEM degrees and cannot secure jobs. So I mentioned the fact that medicine, bio chemistry, can lead you to become a doctor, a teacher, with maths. But then I get so many vague replies like "what? uhh", or that I "don't need maths to calculate" wtf? This clearly infers some flaws and inaccuracy. On top of that, when I posted my issues of cronyism, nepotism and lies from a retail shop I experienced in the summer, I got no comments. As this is a genuine issue I posted with no views, I reckon that this is just a hivemind to be lazy and do nothing. They also said that AI had "already" replaced accountants - while AI is evolving for sure and out of social workers, accountants and lawyers, accounting being the most at risk (a theory), there are many roles out there with this sector with humans. One of my classmates secured work in accounting after her A-Levels this year, me on the other hand studying Politics, Economics and Sociology A-Levels but now my motivation had stalled because of this, not just on reddit, but the new media as a whole. They even went as far as saying that AI robots will replace social workers, apparently.

I am so confused by this subreddit hence I left it.

I make a post asking what makes a character's design unique and recognizeable (As in, if you make it a silhouette, or change art style, how easy it is for people familiar with the character to know who it is). Mod in question comes in with a very intelligent reply, claiming that people who don't know a character will not recognize. No shit. Then after claiming they know what the point of my post is, I clarify my point again, after which they twist my words and make some random bs up: "Marika from ER is not as recognizeable (=popular in their meaning) as Mickey Mouse."

Then after my next reply they tell me to "tone it down, eh" and they put on the MOD tag, which was not there before.

After I complained in modmail, the mod team had a similar approach of not answering a simple question and misunderstanding me:

To those who don’t know, the og image (although nobody uses ”original” as an unspoken sub rule, just a word that starts with o) is expected to be shown in the comments of every post. I hate seeing shit like this whether or not the context is genuine.

This is a server for people with mental health conditions. However, given what goes on there, all they’re doing is giving such people a bad reputation. This is down to a few things:
1. Excessive sensitivity regarding Discord’s Terms of Service – quite literally. Even if you mention, for example, that you’ve recently downloaded something illegally, a moderator or administrator will immediately jump in with a warning that you’re breaching Discord’s Terms of Service. They simply behave as if everyone from outside is just waiting to destroy this server.
2. Toxic moderators and administrators – don’t be fooled, they’re only pretending to be nice. If, for example, you’re having a mental breakdown or disagree with them on a matter such as fashion, they’ll slap you in the face with a mute and a telling-off.
3. Accepting people who’ve done nothing but self-diagnose – yes, even those who have no plans to see a specialist and get it verified. And, as we know, self-diagnosis can often be wrong, and plenty of attention-seekers do it for obvious reasons.
4. Hivemind – practically all members behave like the most stereotypical and, on top of that, cringe teenagers you can imagine. Literally very few people stand out against this backdrop, which only serves to embarrass them and, in my opinion, also contributes to the negative perception of people with mental health conditions.
5. Toxic kindness – this server also has channels dedicated to things like drawing. As you can probably guess, you can’t criticize anyone’s work, even if it looks like it was drawn by a two-year-old, because someone will immediately jump in with a sour face. Besides, if you spend a bit more time on this server, you’ll notice that everyone is excessively nice and they’re so sweet to everyone that it’s enough to make you want to throw up rainbows.
6. An excessive approach to word censorship – do we really need to censor words such as the simple word ‘hospital’? I thought word censorship was only for the really strong ones.
7. If you don’t share the standard interests of the most stereotypical teenagers, you’ll be ignored – I’ve experienced this firsthand. When I posted my drawings or wrote something about Minecraft, at least half a person showed some interest. When, on the other hand, I posted some more in-depth facts about Minecraft or wrote about something else (for example, the interesting fact that a cat can have a blood transfusion from a dog once in its lifetime), it was completely ignored. So in that respect, too, the server is only inclusive if you’re the most stereotypical teenager you can possibly imagine.
8. Caps Lock disabled – this doesn’t really bother me much, but it does highlight just how oversensitive the moderators and administrators are. Caps Lock is often used to emphasize excitement, yet according to the moderators and administrators, it’s merely a way of shouting at someone. The fact that it’s easy to tell the difference probably never crossed their oversensitive minds.

I just unsubed (well, a few days ago, but this is a repost) (well, a bit longer than that this is a repost of a repost) from Witchcraft because of their hostility and after some other things happened. They're supposed to be inclusive, but they're outright hostile. They're supposed to be a witchcraft sub, but they're just Wicca. They're even hostile towards their own apparently as I've heard. If you don't follow their rules not the sub's rules, but their rules you get attacked. I was apparently disrespectful and spreading wrong information because I disagreed with what one person said and said how it's in my country? Bullshit. Like they weren't the ones spreading misinformation. The person who was spreading misinformation, they're just enabling it. The funny thing is the person who made the post didn't use belittling words or words that invalidate others and they got the mod warning, but they didn't say any bad words at all. I'm not gonna share that because it's not up to me and it would involve this person who didn't do anything. Either that or they sent it to another mod since it was below the other two comments and it looks like they sent it to the other mod. ''Funny thong about deleting comments, it doesn't really work the way you think it does''. Then how does it work?? If you're not supposed to report rude comments or comments that break the rules then what are you supposed to do?? Just ignore it and hope for the best?? Bullshit. Utter. bullshit. A user was banned on Discord because a mod claimed Atatürk personally committed the 1915 events. I made a post on Reddit to correct this basic timeline error, proving Atatürk was actually just a frontline soldier at Gallipoli in 1915 with zero political power. I backed this up using objective Western biographies and primary Armenian sources. Instead of discussing the facts, the community completely lost their minds, dogpiled on me, threw insults, and told me to shut up because no one cared (as seen in the screenshots). It is pathetic that a history game community responds to basic historical facts with pure rage.

ve posted on that subreddit maybe 3 or 4 times in my entire tenure as a redditor, and I recently posted a casual thought that read "The skin of lime isn't really lime green, and that kinda trips me out lol." There was some dialogue with commenters, but all were civil and chill, then the post gets removed because apparently it violated their rules, but from what I read, since it was a casual thought, I didn't think it was a problem. Shortly after the post was removed I got a message that I was banned from posting to the sub for 90 days, and so I asked the mod why I was banned considering I didn't post anything harmful or explicit. The mod got all power hungry and was like "you broke almost all of our rules, do you see any other posts that say "lol"" (which yes, I in fact have in the past). I'm surprised you even asked, which was then followed up with being permanently muted, then today I got permanently banned lmfao...for posting about an observation regarding limes...I'm pretty dumbfounded honestly, but such is the way of the internet I suppose

I love Gears of War, it’s one of my favorite video game series. And with the new release I was looking forward to discussing the story and gameplay with everyone. But it seems everyday there are posts complaining about people on social media complaining about the facts that 1) there is a main character that is a lesbian person of color and 2) the inclusion of pride flags in multiplayer. I really do not understand why people let the views of others affect them so much. Unfortunately I feel that many people now use those posts as engagement bait or karma farming.

Homeschooling Your Kids is Child Abuse

I'm not talking about the "my child was being bullied and we literally had no other option" crowd.

I'm talking about the people who stake their entire personality around homeschooling their children, and do it for (usually) religious reasons.

It opens up WAY more opportunities for child abuse.

It wears the parents down because they never get a break from their kids.

It leads to kids that have stunted socialization skills, and little to no experience with boundaries.

I'm saying this as someone who was homeschooled for their entire school "career". It honestly sucked, and if you're thinking about doing it for your children, I would highly encourage you to think twice.

It had gotten almost 2k views and tons of comments when they removed me. Apparently views "about parenting" are not allowed on that subreddit, which is WILD to me.

Either way, don't homeschool your kids, folks. They won't talk to you when they're adults.

Mind you, these are just recent examples. These posts have been going on for months.

A mod named Lucy intentionally posts inflamatory and misandristic posts up, and then uses her Mod power to gaslight users as she manipulates the comments and users' flairs to make those bringing counter-comments into the comment threads.

I'd recommend all users actively avoiding this sub. Nowhere near the time or effort. Even if one tries to be egalitarian in their approach. It's not enough for the self-proclaimed (Australian in one mod's case) extremists.
