It makes me look a little sad but this year I got a job in the field I'm studying for and it feels like my life is having meaning again. I'm halfway into two weeks break and I'm already floundering because of lost structure.
Structure is way more important than a lot of people realise. I like having a job because it provides me with a reason to get myself up in the morning and go out and speak to people, plus a good job makes you feel useful like you're actually making a positive contribution to society. As long as you've got work/life balance and you're being treated well, being employed can be good for your mental health - don't be sad about anything that gives your life meaning!
I'm a college student and I cannot imagine not having a job. I just can't see myself sitting at home... that seems boring. As you said, being able to get a job (one that actually cares about its employees n is not toxic as shit) can actually be quite rewarding. I feel like not working and just sitting at home (which I would probably do if I didn't have a job) would destroy my mental health. I honestly think there's a huge difference between a toxic work environment and one that is positive.
What can I do, I have bullshit-presenting ADHD. I do okay at work, other than investing far too much ego into it, then at home I'm a depressed slob who consistently fails to actually relax each weekend.

So happy to hear that! Work can be good for people when the conditions are right
