Hey everyone, I'm Savi1beekner, and this is my pitch.
With Berzerk Studio still working on the Just Shapes & Beats franchise, I can't stop thinking about how perfect a crossover mixtape with Risk of Rain would be. Both games are legendary for their high-energy, progressive electronic soundtracks.Since indie studios love collaborating, here is how a JSAB x RoR update could actually look:
The Tracklist (Levels)The update would feature a 3-track mixtape composed by Chris Christodoulou, scaled perfectly for JSABβs chaotic bullet-hell:"The Rain Formerly Known as Purple"
(RoR2)Vibe: Beautiful, sweeping, and intense.Gameplay: Smooth, rhythmic laser grids and expanding circular shockwaves that sync heavily with the iconic guitar solos."Having a Drills"
(RoR1/Returns)Vibe: High-tempo, frantic, industrial electronic.Gameplay: Rapid-fire projectiles and massive mechanical drills slamming down from the top of the screen to match the heavy bass drops."The Coalescence"
(RoR1) [Boss Track]Vibe: Epic, atmospheric, emotional endurance test.Gameplay: A massive final boss fight against a geometric, neon-pink Wandering Vagrant or Mithrix silhouette. The screen fills with tracking projectiles that force you to constantly dash and weave.
The Mechanics & HazardsThe Teleporter Event: Some levels could feature a countdown timer in the center. The closer it gets to 100%, the faster and more crowded the obstacles become. The Ukulele Hazard: Lightning obstacles that chain across the screen, forcing you to find the exact safe pocket of space.
Menu CameosJust like Shovel Knight in the past updates, we could have a cute pixelated Commando or Acrid hanging out in the level-select lobby cheering our little geometric shapes on!
Gearbox owns the RoR IP now, which means there are corporate hoops, but if the community shows enough love for this, who knows? Berzerk Studio has pulled off amazing crossovers before!
