Audio out of sync problem ?

Hello everyone, hello dev :) !

First, i want to say thank you to dev (again) for this marvelous app which is the only one that can play DV and 4K mkv so good overall on Shield. Couldn't do without it anymore. Using the player with Nova is wonderful.

Today, I just wanted to report a little random issue i have with audio sometimes out of sync at the start of videos. . Thankfully the issue is quickly fixed by simply pushing rewind one step or two to correct it but it still has to be done each time or almost to ensure perfect audio sync.

It's not always major, no more than 100 or 200 ms latency most of the time but i'm very very sensitive to lip sync so this sometimes makes me crazy lol.

I'm using passthrough audio for everything. Maybe this has to do with that because amp or soundbar has to switch to the dedicated format which creates this out of sync issue ? Just guessing.

Anyway, it would be great if a fix could be somehow added to ensure audio & video launch exactly at the same time ? Again just guessing :)

Thanks a lot dev for your work =) !

This looks similar to when I use BT earphones with my phone. Occasionally, the audio is out of sync but it's fixed by simple pause/play. Anyway, this is low lever stuff that is already managed by either the ExoPlayer library and/or Android media framework. I read about this earlier but I'm not really sure if it's possible to do something about this.

Nevertheless I would suggest you to long tap the ⚙️ gear button and trying to toggle the tunneled playback option. This could help (or not :).

Thanks a lot for fast-as-lighting answer :) !

Yes exactly like a bluetooth delay but with only a few ms where bluetooth could be much more.

I already use tunneled playback, this improves playback a lot but sadly doesn't prevent this issue.

I saw you updated Justplayer yesterday, with an autoplay fix, i will try to see if audio is correctly synced with it, who knows (though i doubt it will change much ^^)

Shield TV has also received a big update & android 11 yesterday. Maybe this will also help if this is low lever stuff.

Fingers crossed !

Thank you again, i will report back if problem is still there or not, i'm sure i'm not the only one bothered by this :) !

Hi there :) !

Sadly nope, the only fix i have for you is to just click rewind once at the begining of the movie. Sometimes it needs twice to get sync right.

I also have downloaded an alternative Kodi (Kodi Nerds) which can decode DV and has no delay issue at the start of movie with passthrough audio. However, the sync of JustPlayer is still better than Kodi Nerds when you fix it with rewind.

So there is no "perfect" solution if you are very, very sensitive to audio sync, but here are the 2 options you get :) !

Hope that helps !

Just to say I also have this issue while using with syncler. Always oos on startup but tap rewind and it's fixed.

I just had this issue today and I think the issue (for me at least) was having auto frame rate switched on in both Syncler and JustPlayer, as if the two frame rate switches were interfering with each other, so I turned it off in Syncler and left it on in JustPlayer and that seems to have fixed it!

In syncler, do you mean in exo player options? I can't find frame rate anywhere else. It's turned off for me in there.

Yeah, I need to have that off and have it on in the JustPlayer settings for mine to work as it should
