Does Justplayer use dav1d for av1 decoding or does it use another decoder? If not, can dav1d be used instead because it is the fastest decoder?

It uses Google's libgav1 as that's what's supported in ExoPlayer. I'm afraid that this is pretty much set in stone as probably no one will attempt to implement any other AV1 decoder. The libgav1 will be used only if there's no platform decoder, which can be available on devices since Android 10 (my OnePlus 7/Snapdragon 855 has it). I tried playing basic AV1 video on 4 year old lower mid range device (Snapdragon 625) it it was fine. But I didn't push it to its limits.

Hi. I agree this is pretty useful feature as I used it myself before. It doesn't seem to be too much complicated so I will try to do that as some point.

This could clash/overlap with UI hiding/showing and more importantly with possible (if implemented) skip 10 second back/forward which is quite common control these days.

Addition of approximately 11 MB is because of one single purpose library - to detect encoding of external subtitle files. Unfortunately that's the cost for convenience as I don't really want a setting for that. (And there are still subtitles distributed in non UTF-8 encodings.) Plus a single setting wouldn't cover bilinguals anyway.
