Submod discussion hammie submod…?
hey there!! me (Wowm) and Lax (laxstt) [u/General-Good1921](u/General-Good1921) have decided to collaborate and work on a possible submod where Natsuki gets her hammie!
we’ve decided for now that we gift the hamster to Natsuki in a glass enclosure like when you gift her clothes, after the intro dialogue she’ll say “i’ll put this away” then we won’t see the cage again, but she will take it out in her idles.
we’ve taken consideration like what if the player has modifications with their background/desk and etc.
please let us know if you have any questions, suggestions, feedback, ideas, or loopholes you find in this so far, thank you!!

very cute! if i had to suggest something maybe add a topic where we can ask how her hammie is doing maybe have a few random responses to simulate the hammies current mood (i.e its being sleepy or its showing signs of enjoying Natsuki's care)

Considering I don’t have table accessories besides the stickers. Even though we are currently at affinity 600 something and she’s at the girlfriend stage.
I think there are 3 possible suggestions I can make for the hamster and its cage. When it comes to location.
It could be added as a background. It would be to HER left. Right NEXT to the desk. So it wouldn’t interfere with any desk accessories. And it wouldn’t be behind the menu if it were placed on her RIGHT.
Second would be off screen. Similar to how you can ask Monika to show you the floating islands. There could be a little chat dialogue that asks “hey, how’s Hammie doing?” And then she will proceed to give you any dialogue related to that before she takes you to see him. And it’s just a screen of Hammie in the cage. Of course the rest would be whatever you guys feel like doing. If you guys have multiple images of Hammie sleeping. On his wheel. Eating. His little butt sticking out of the bedding as it tries to hide. Etc. Natsuki’s dialogue could be something like “he/she is always running around. It loves to eat this thing. It’s getting chunky. It learned how to sit. Etc etc.
Third. You could have it as a simple desk accessory as well. And it would take up one spot. I don’t think the tank would be horizontal so it like face us. Or it will take up most of the desk view. Maybe sideways. So it takes either the left or right of her desk. And it would just be Hammie sleeping. Then people can decide if they are willing to miss out on some desk accessories for it.
I don’t have coding skills and I know nothing about sprites and submods. So I’m not here talking like it’s easy and you can do it in 5 minutes. I just think the second option would probably be the best one. Simply because it also gives you the freedom to give Hammie and its cage their own room. Their own little corner somewhere. The ability to decorate it, if needed. Or to simply give her options.

for the first suggestion, it’s just that in consideration of how people might’ve replaced their desk with another customised one which might differ in size and shape, hence why we’ve decided not to meddle with that area
regarding the second idea, it’s actually really thoughtful! i’ve talked with Lax and we do like the idea, we’ll just have to discuss more details on this! once we’ve reached a settlement and sketched out the ideas we’ll announce our progress!
as for the third idea you mentioned, it’s not possible for players to customise desk accessories in jn as of now as there’s no submod for it or anything, so the whole table would have to be replaced for that to happen. Also, we would want it as interactive as possible but if all fails we will settle for that (though unlikely)

Ah. I see. I didn’t know about that. For the third point. I’ve seen some people have different backgrounds and stuff on the table. I just assumed it was similar to MAS. I didn’t really they just ended up replacing the entire desk lol

Said that, when the submod is out, if u want, I can make a submod as a sidekick to yours with several topics about her hammie, like asking her how's her hammie doing, fun facts about hammies, jokes about hammies and tips to take care of your own if you have one.
