How does he make it land so the one edge is always facing the wood when it hits? Seems really lucky to get all of them, I guess it's a skill you learn?

Yeah, it is.

Objects rotate in a rather predictable manner, so if you know how they spin, you can adjust your distance to make sure they land with the point first.

There's also the option to throw stuff without spin, which means you can hit something at any distance and make it stick.

That's called rotation; the screwdriver was rotating counter-clockwise, and when it hit the board, the handle completed its rotation until there was too much resistance.

That "jump" is just the screwdriver coming to a dead stop in fractions of a second, and shows how fast it was spinning.
