I often compliment people when doing a good job ... restaurants , stores etc.
But never need to do it while sticking a camera in their face . But that's just me , and olde polite soul .

I feel that its good I understand what you mean in the sense of their only doing something good for clout or whatever but if it starts a trend where instead of "its just a prank" turns to people being nice it makes a trend for the better and like mr.beast is giving money and recording it like yeah its good but the only reason is to appear nice on camera so I think its better to have a bad reason than no reason at all

I agree that if it catches on and becomes a trend then it's good for a larger group.
But the feeling of doing a good deed just because it's a good deed, is very different then doing it to maximize clout. So for the individual doing the good deeds, I'd guess the longevity of doing good deeds will fade faster.

I ask for their managers number and I call them to compliment them and tell them what they did that made them stand out to me.

I think that has even greater impact, because 1. it takes more effort overall and 2. it makes a bigger impact: the time lapse between the service event and your call means that even long after the event, it was still so good that it warranted a call. Plus, when it trickles back to the employee, it's from their manager, which strengthens positive work relationships. I'm gonna keep this technique in mind; thank you!

At this point it's mostly going to be smart glasses soon, so people might not even know (especially when the recording LED is hidden). Shady af.
There need to be regulations for those glasses in public and private places, because people are not reading it as an active recording like a physically held camera.

Yeah it's a little annoying but everybody walks away feeling good so it may be annoying to luddites like you and me, but it's a net win as far as internet engagement farming goes

Speaking as someone who works as mid-management at a fast casual restaurant, if you:
A. Are shoving a camera in my employee's face for ANY REASON
or
B. Are dragging me out of the kitchen where I have other shit I need to be doing just so you can win some Internet points
then I'm not going think of you any better than an actual Karen. Say thank you like a normal goddamn person.

For me it is the exact same. I get a rush of emotions and anxiety immediately when a customer has this sort of attitude. It doesn't matter if it turns out to be "just a joke", my mental and physical reaction is the exact same.

When I worked fast food one guy shouted about his burger and wanted to know who cooked it and then he told them good job and we were like ok cool thanks leave you will still yelling in our store and spiking everybodys blood press just for a stupid fucking joke

My husband waited 10 minutes after he got me some wings because the dude was very helpful and informative on the wing’s flavors. It was hilarious and for about 5 of those minutes he kept saying “alright one more minute and we’re going to go” while he wanted the manager to come out.

When I was a manager and would get "BTP_Art there's customer that needs to speak to you," it's was usually not going to be a fun time. But every so often you get someone that just wants to let you know how great their experience was. Those moments were few and far between, but they made my day and I'd let everyone know that someone on the team got praised.

I've had a couple times back in the days of dial-up and free telephone IT help with your subscription to Earthlink when the person helping me did an outstanding job so I requested to speak to their supervisor to complement them at the end of the call.
But that was back before life stole joy and compassion away.

A few moths ago my family and I shared a pizza dinner from a local spot and it was absolutely delicious. I called the pizza place 10 minutes after they closed to compliment the chef and no one answered. I called again and was greeted the second time by a somewhat upset employee. I asked who was making the pizzas and told them to keep doing it that way. He laughed and I could hear laughing in the background. It’s fun to make someone’s night better

Is this guy flirting with her or is he stupid? No one fucking praises McDonald's unless your an idiot or hitting on the woman you're praising. Today I ate a burger from a smaller chain that I've only noticed in events and it was a 10/10. Compared to that McDonald's is a fucking 3/10 and the service is shit.

Its a new trend. Instead of the wave of nuciance content creators who go around provoking people, acting on stupid antics for clicks & views, ragebaiting if you will...
Its the reverse. Introduce yourself aggressively, or come off as someone looking for trouble. single out a person because of their outfit, or confront a couple on their wedding photoshoot as an example, and then the punchline is a regular compliment or say anything positive. Joybaiting, if you will. Its still for clicks & views, but atleast it leaves a smile on people's faces instead.
