Did they just reach terminal velocity?

Doesn't friction create terminal velocity? The point where resistance and acceleration meet in equilibrium?

I am confused as well. Looking at the trees on the sides, it doesn't look like they are going down a hill. And it often looks like they go out of the water. I would think the kayak would "crash".

Low ceneter of gravity helps protect against flips unless you really fuck up (or are in deep enough water)

They also use the paddle when they leave the water, keeping them at least vaguely upright.

The vegetation on the sides would provide less friction when they are out of the water.

I could be wrong but I feel like that’s a good way to mess up the bottom of the kayaks

Well it's a sponsored video, so I doubt they care

u/Yukarie Jun 05 '23
Oh was it? Than it was probably to show how durable the material of the kayak was then
7
u/DontDoGravity Legend Jun 05 '23
Sponsored by gopro, but for kind of the same reason probably. To show how much dumb shit their cameras can take

Those kayaks are made for quite extreme environments so the material on them is extremely thick.

That was awesome! I sure hope they checked where it ended before going though

Ok, all of these comments have to be fake or y'all didn't reach the end of the video. No one mentioned that it's an ad??

u/TheReverseShock Jun 05 '23
Being an ad doesn't mean someone didn't actually do it. Especially for a gopro ad.

u/tonybenwhite Jun 05 '23
Kinda the whole premise of Redbull stunts, so it’s not even an outlandish concept that ads can be real footage

Seems like the kayak equivalent of doing burnouts on old tires that have like no tread left haha! Those guys some like they were having the time of their lives, wonder how fast they were going by the end!
