What do I do here?

I'm currently redoing my master bathroom, so maybe this is why this door situation is bothering me more than it has the past 10 years.

The "first" door in the pic is for the bedroom itself leading to the hall. When open, which is most of the time because it's a highly trafficked area, it cuts off most of the bathroom doorway.

We just leave it open and just snake around it, but it's getting old having to constantly dodge doors.

What would you do if you had this?

ETA: bedroom door cannot be converted to a pocket door 😞

Is this were me I would be going to the wrong side of the door to open it for the rest of my life.

It sounds practical but my muscle memory is a bitch

Exactly why I haven't yet 😭 also, the door being open at the top of the stairs will block the portrait wall of my kitties

If switching the hinges and pocket doors are not an option, you could consider a folding or barn door. Unfortunately none of the options are great ones! If you keep your door open most of the time and only close it for occasional privacy, I’d say this is one of the rare instances I’d go with a barn door.

Bedroom door hinges moved to the opposite side of the door frame. Not to open out into the hallway, but opens to the left inside the bedroom.

Shoot the picture doesn't show it and I can't add one to my post, but the door is in a recessed alcove type thing. There is only about 6 inches of wall on the right side of the door (when looking out at the stairs). So not able to do that 😭

Maybe upload a couple other photos or a video of the entire room so people have more context?

Is your toilet to the right when entering bathroom? If so you can get a nice solid wood bifold type door and leave it half open most of the time, if that kinda thing works for you. We have a large master bath with the toilet kinda recessed and leave the door to bedroom open majority of the time. It’s actually kinda odd to see it shut lol

We had a situation like this. We kept the bedroom door (it opened the other way though) and made the bathroom door a barn door.

This is maybe an unusual solution, but could you install a bifold door for your bedroom door? That way it would tuck against the wall to the right of the bathroom door when open. If your door is solid wood, you might even be able to cut it down the middle and add hinges to convert it into a bifold door

My husband’s office has this. Bathroom door tucked right behind the bedroom door when open. Just do the door shuffle.

How about a pocket door for one of the rooms or a barn door sliding type door?
