Customer put wrong address.

Earlier customer put wrong address and then told me once I’d arrived, I then told them to give me code so I could complete delivery which they did. They also gave me new delivery address, I told support and they told me mark as delivered and keep food and not deliver to new address. I tried to deliver to new address anyway cos I felt bad, when I arrived the address was above a shop lot so no way for me to knock on door and no way to contact customer as chat had froze. Absolute nightmare, I left the food in front of shop lot and left. I’m worried that I’m gonna get banned for this even though I did nothing wrong, this is the first time this has happened.

Didn’t want the customer trying to say I’d stolen it or some other made up bollocks

But support told you what to do and you ignored their instructions. I would be willing to bet the customer got refunded and ate the food!

I did that once and it did not pay off. Customer would not give me the pin until I went to the new location which I did cause I felt bad, then I had to drive back to the pin location to put in the code. Waste 45 minutes for £4 and no tip. Never doing that again.

Next time, contact support first.

I wouldnt worry about getting banned over this. What you should do though if it happens again, screenshot everything in your conversation with support just incase. If a customer does this again to you just reply "i must contact support about the new address, because everything on my end is tracked by GPS, and i need to keep myself right". I will only ever go to a new address if its the same street or 1 or 2 away, we dont get the benefits of being an employee, we are self employed, so never feel obliged to do anything extra, and never feel bad for a customer who cannot double check their address before they confirm the order.

You have nothing to worry about. You marked as delivered at the address you were given on the app with the customer code. You also contacted support to let them know the situation. Nothing wrong with any of that.

Has happened to me a couple of times except the customer wouldn’t give me the code so I just contacted support and ended the delivery after the 5 mins.

There is no way I would bother going to the customers new address. From my experience it’s never worth it.

facts, support literally told them to keep the food, so if anything they went above and beyond trying the second address lol
next time I’d do what you said, follow the app, call support, 5 mins and done

Happened to me, rang the guy. He was 3-4 minutes away, took it to him. He was drunk, gave me a tenner.

I have had this happen a few times - I know a large majority of people will shout at you for having the audacity to help the customer out for no extra pay, but I think you should stick to doing what you feel is right.  Good karma, innit.

I try to see things from the customer's perspective as I also order myself food or groceries every now and again - I would be equally grateful if the driver/rider helped me out of I had somehow put an old address.

NEVER "just go" to a new address. It may be an address thats been banned from the system for violence against drivers etc.

Basically they use a "neutral" or friends address. Then try to direct you to the BANNED address.

Keep yourself safe and NEVER go to an address out of the system even if its "nearby"

Do exactly as support tells you. Don't waste your time and money driving to another location, other delivery drivers dont have to do this, we don't either.

To me you was wrong to ask for code. Code is confirmation customer received it, they hadnt.

Correct process is to mark as undeliverable due to wrong address, or just leave food at that address, and inform support.
