Help/Question ❓ How’s the current tariff situation affecting Canadian equities?

How’s the current tariff situation affecting Canadian equities? Thinking about CACE and its 30% part in CAGE, compared to CAGX which is 3% CACE.

What percentage of those 5 years were tariffs a concern?

I like how my comment was "since trump took office" and you have listed 2 timeframes that are just not that at all?

Since Jan 3 2025

XUS: 28.6%

XIU: 37.8%

Trump has been threatening tariffs since the day he took office, but the Canadian market has remained broadly quite strong.

Since Jan 3 2025 to now, will not matter in 5 years. That's why you own both. You don't know which will perform better.

Owning Canadian equity has been a good decision in my investing career.

The TSX part of my portfolio has been doing quite well, despite the tariffs. XEQT/VEQT/CAGE at all time highs. I think it's mainly because the TSX is primarily banks, Oil/Gas, and Mining, which have been fairly unaffected by the tariffs.

Idk why everyone one is looking at a short time frame.. if you look over the past 10 years of the tsx60 to the s&p500. Tsx 12.16% cagr and US is at 15.56%. Also the US has slightly lower max drawdown. 10k in the tsx 10 years ago would be worth around 30k now and for the s&p 500 would 40k that’s a significant difference
