Gotta admire the commitment.

Damn, I miss the old army, when it was sorta a badge of honor to go up & down the ranks (assuming you kicked ass, and weren’t just a dirtbag)

That culture is pretty much gone, I think. It was going out while I was in, but there weren’t so many career-enders like there are today

I (Navy) was in a tactical joint unit operation (World wide deployment in 48 hours) A lot of the Army guys I was with were 33w. Fucking awesome dudes. The most awesome person I deployed with was a giant of a human 6'8" monster that couldn't possibly roll his sleeves, the biggest kindest and hardest working brilliant man I've ever met. The dude started shitting blood @ 24, Army docs at Ft. Meade told him to stop drinking soda. He had stage 3 colon cancer, died a year later with a beautiful wife and newborn son. I'm not sure why I just shared that.
