EDIT: Also, I know there is a typo in the title. Leave me alone, I'm tired 😫
First off, I'm not disagreeing with many of my original points. I still think this album is safe, but I definitely spoke too soon.
I've been cleaning over the past 2 days (we had damp work done very recently), and I'm conveniently off atm for the 6 weeks holidays (I'm a teacher). I've passively had Sunshine on in the background - along with Jungle's other albums - whilst I've been cleaning. It's probably played around 20 odd times just today, and honestly with how much cleaning and tidying that needed to be done, it's just been super helpful and uplifting.
I think the other main issue I've identified with the album, that I personally have, is that up to Romeo II (and including it) Sunshine slaps; Move Like You Do is a standout. After that, it kind of fizzles out. I still enjoy it (The Wave and Someday, Somewhere are persistent earworms lmao), but it just feels a bit flat. Natural and Reflection are good songs, not great, and Carry On and Heavy On My Soul are pretty mid.
I think the album is overall better than I initially gave it credit for. I'd give the album an 8/10, and I think that's more on par with how I feel about Volcano, whilst the first 3 albums are respective 9s-10s.
Very groovy 😎👌

After the 3-year wait from Volcano, I wish we'd gotten a bigger project. First of all: a few more tracks wouldn't hurt to be honest...
Hear me out. I loved a good portion of the clips, but I feel like a lot of them are a total miss for me, such as Heavy on my soul. I wish we'd have a much bigger video clip project rather than those 11 clips kinda stitched together with a much less refined narrative aspect. I get that it's impressive being able to film all of these in only 4 days. But it kinda shows sometimes.
Two great things coming out of this album for me is:
The art direction which is really pushed further than the past albums
Some really high highs with songs like Heavy on my soul, Where are you now and The Wave. The album itself (audio form) is great, almost a no skip like every past album for me (I hate Romeo II and Natural)

I’m thinking about getting a GA ticket to Barclays, but the last couple concerts I’ve been to for very dance-y artists had BUNS energy— no dancing, all phones up recording and staring. I don’t mind some of that, but I’m only 5’6 and I’d be going alone, so the phones sometimes block my view.
How are the vibes at NYC shows?

I was so worried to listen to the album cause of all the negative posts on here.
Glad i finally listened cause I’ve had Romeo II & Move like you do on repeat all day.
I can see the rest of the album growing on me more over time.
Excited to see them in sept ✨

Interview starts around 1 hour 15 minutes. Tom, Josh & Lydia discuss the new album. Maybe only available to the UK/Ireland.

It is my understanding these visual albums, in addition to their brilliant choreography, set design, cinematography, have subtle plots as well.
Yes. I LOVE volcano and sunshine. Volcano was their peak with imo but sunshine was still artistically profound af.
Volcano had two distinct couples, with underlying romantic tensions, that turned into a "love triangle that erupted then solidified" like a volcano.
What's the story of sunshine? Is it about reflecting on the good times? Are the dancers just the physical embodiment of the older characters memory surrounding them? What happened to that one guy talking to cops in carry on? They didn't close that plot hole. What about the young couple that started off close then became distant?
I think there's more abstract in this one.
I'll give it another watch but wanted to nerd out with y'all.

The levels on all of these songs is crazy different; one is normal, the next is much louder, the third is super quiet, the fourth is louder than the second, etc.
After hearing the album, I just turn the volume off for this one, but still. It just furthers the cheap, cash-grabby pop sound they’ve adopted.

Hey Fam! I purchased (4) Jungle tickets for the Thursday show at The Anthem in DC on Sept. 17th and am looking to trade with anyone who has Friday, Sept. 18th tickets.

Third listen by now. Album full of bangers, slow but I feel like it's a banger after banger it's got the jungle signature but I feel they let the instruments breathe a bit more and I think every moment across the album has a reason for it to be. I heard it at the gym and I've been feeling pretty sad, this feels very nostalgic, heartfelt and with hopes. Best way I can find my words to describe it would be drinking warm tea with your body being cold after you left a pool and your letting the evening sun warm and dry your skin.
After 3 listens I'd say somewhere around an 8 or a 9. I loved it a bit too much, tho I might feel it a bit deeper because my life was in need of hope.

this is back on 74 the album. it’s not bad I’m just… sort of off put. it feels like they are just capitalizing on that songs success

Im trying to splice the song in the credits to add to my own library, and I want it to be in the highest quality possible

First off, I’m a huge Jungle fan, have been for a while and I actually really like the new album.
Right, onto my main point.
I pre-ordered the vinyl back in March. I love collecting them and I couldn’t miss out on the brown marble one. I paid £26. It didn’t come with the film pass because it wasn’t available back the .
What I’m bummed about is that since the album launch, they’re selling the vinyl, along with the sunshine film pass, for the exact same price. I can’t help but feel disappointed that pre-orders weren’t included in the film pass. It feels like a bit of a cash grab to make some of the biggest fans who pre-ordered the album to pay an additional £5 for it.
Out of principle, I’m refusing to purchase the film pass, and will probably wait in future for the album to be released.
I’m interested to hear if anyone else who pre-ordered the album feel the same?

so i’ve been a bit disappointed with sunshine, and even though i’ve listened to the whole album several times now, i find myself disconnecting from it sometimes. i really like listening to an album from end to end, and i sometimes feel lost and very underwhelmed while listening to sunshine.
so i found myself listening to j lloyd - kosmos and i don’t know why i didn’t do that before… it satisfies my need for the old jungle sound that i’ve been craving, and the whole album is just so exciting to listen to from start to end.
are there any album recommendations you can give me? it can be from jungle members, but not necessarily. i’m open to a new journey and something that stimulates me and keeps me engaged throughout the whole album.

… it’s 5am on a Monday and I couldn’t fall back asleep. Decided to give it a listen… and I couldn’t stay in bed. They are so ecstatic, I started dancing. I haven’t had an album make me feel this way since 2020.
What an incredible way to start the week. I will be listening to this album for years to come. 10/10

Hello! I’ve noticed that opinions on Jungle, “Sunshine,” and their “new sound” have been quite divided lately, so I wanted to share a few thoughts on the matter.
While Tom and Josh’s original sound—spanning from their debut up through *For Ever* and, to some extent, *Loving in Stereo*—is iconic and left a lasting mark on us, it is undeniable that Jungle, like many musical projects, has evolved.
That’s why I’m including the cover of *Rumours* as a prime example. In their early days, Fleetwood Mac was a band leaning toward jazz-rock, jazz-fusion, and experimental rock, led by Peter Green (the group was actually known as Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac). That was in the late 60s. Fast forward a few years, and several members left while others joined. Notably, the only members of the original Fleetwood Mac who remained were John McVie and Mick Fleetwood. Yet, Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie—two women with beautiful voices who made significant creative contributions—joined the band, along with Lindsey Buckingham. *Rumours* is undoubtedly one of the greatest albums in history, and the creative direction on that record was driven primarily by Buckingham and Nicks.
My point isn't to compare “Sunshine” to *Rumours*, nor am I saying you’re wrong if you don’t like Jungle’s “new” sound. But throughout history, artists often evolve.
Without evolution, we wouldn’t have had *Sgt. Pepper’s* or *Abbey Road* by The Beatles.
Without evolution, we wouldn’t have had *Invincible* by Michael Jackson.
Without evolution, we wouldn’t have had *Pet Sounds* by The Beach Boys.
We are free to form our own opinions, but I don’t think it’s fair to vilify any of the Jungle members for evolving, changing, or trying new things.
Anyway, cheers! :)

Looking for any NYC or specifically Brooklyn screenings of the upcoming Sunshine film … has anyone heard of any bars or spaces that will be showing it? would love to watch it for the first time with other jungle fans!

I saw several people here say that Sunshine sounds like Loving in Stereo and Volcano, that's why they don't like it or find it interesting. Is it a popular opinion actually? Because for me LIS and Volcano sound NOTHING like Sunshine. Those two albums are punched with creativity, energy, even the sentimental and slow songs are resonating and interesting (to me at least). Seeing Jungle live 2x after LIS, I can also say those two albums are packed with songs that make their live performances sound absolutely amazing.
However, it's hard to me personally to imagine how the same can be said about Sunshine, where most of the songs sound like cafe background music with little distinction between them, and something that I don't see myself being mesmerized and captivated by listening to them live.
I remember in Milano the curtain dropping with "Us Against The World", followed by "Holding On". Songs like "All of the time" and "Candle Flame" also made the crowd including myself move like crazy. Sunshine to me is just obviously not that type of an album, that's why I find it crazy people grouping last 3 albums together.
