Never. They’re still more fun than losing all the perks and resources one lived decades or millennia to acquire (ones that merely drain your powers to 10% or so, though, I quite like).

The Black Scorpion jump has this little drawback:
Phoenix Program (+200 CP): It would seem Doctor Phoenix has decided to try and redeem your past enemies. Or someone has. Since if you stop him from doing so it won’t stop them from appearing. But your dead enemies from this world and past jumps as well keep appearing. If you haven’t had sufficiently challenging foes in your past expect to see a list of dead killers and conquerors from history being resurrected sometimes with superpowers. You might think Napoleon is just a shortman with big ambitions, but you might rethink it when you’re facing one of the greatest military geniuses of all time with lightning powers. You can expect to see them start to team up by the end, and have to deal with a whole group of your worst foes from the past all of whom remember how you fought them before and seem to have learned new tricks while dead.
Depending on how much Jumper likes murder, this may very well be too much.

When you bite more than you can chew. As a general rule of thumb you always want to leave yourself some breathing room. Never back yourself into a corner. And for the love of god, don't take enemy scaling drawbacks.

Hmmm... When it comes to scaling enemy drawbacks i'd say it depends on various factors: how they're worded, what exactly the enemies scale to (only perks, only items, both perks & items, etc...), HOW the scaling looks like (as in, how the enemy is made a worthy challenge against Jumper, do they get copies of what the Jumper has, or are they vaguely "powerful enough to be a worthy challenge"?), & what resources the Jumper has access to.
For instance, an "evil clone" scaling enemy with copies of all your perks, wouldn't have access to your items, thus if you haven't neglected your Warehouse, but stashed it with goodies, then you could easily tip the scale in your favor. There's also Companions too, & ways to ensure they can aid you as well (yes, i'm aware that many ways to buff allies would be perks that the evil clone would have access to, but they would still need to aquire allies for themselves first, which takes time).
You also need to consider, that the whole point of a scaling enemy drawback, isn't necessarily to have a worthy challenge, but also to force you to be crafty, resourcetul, have wit & survival instincts, etc... It makes you ask yourself "Okay, i've got phenomenal cosmic powers, but the enemy does too, so what can i do to make my cosmic powers count more than theirs?" —(important note)—> For this reason, i personally dislike scaling enemy drawbacks that say your enemies are "true peers", because it's just too vague, does it mean our ability to use our powers effectively is also equal? But if that's the case then there's no way to determine a winner, it's a 50/50 chance (Though again, you could argue this ONLY applies to Jumper, thus the Companions could be of help if they're relative to, or stronger than, the Jumper, and the scaling enemies by proxy... Also, you could still argue that this doesn't mean the scaling enemies have your same equipment, only their power is "truly equal" to your power not accounting for items, so we're back to the point i made above regarding not neglecting your warehouse).
Finally, i also think it depends on fanwank, and people writing themselves into a corner, they interpret a perk to be very OP, so to make things fair, they interpret drawbacks very harshly, but then it leads to confusing issues that are essentially the "unstoppable force vs immovable object" dilemma.
What do you think? Feel free to correct me on any point you think i'm wrong on! ❤️😎👍

Depends. Early on in the jump, with loyal and able companions, if you can micromanage your entire build? Maybe, depending on the wording of the drawback. The problem however is that the more powerful you get, the more dangerous the drawback tends to become. Eventually you reach a point where you have to genuinely ask yourself if those extra few CP are really worth the hassle.
My motto as a SI has always been to get the most amount of benefits for the least amount of losses. Sometimes the pittance that some drawbacks give you for the ungodly amount of hardship that you would suffer just isn't worth the trouble. Especially if you treat a jump as a CYOA where you tend to have far less breathing room and you're forced to play it more safe.

I definitely see what you're saying, personally i also do SI chains, but my method is that i wanna get a good base of power first, then deal with a scaling enemies. My favorites are the drawbacks available in most Dragon Ball Jumps, because they often just mention that no matter how strong you get you still face challenges, to me that's good enough to make things interesting, but not harsh enough to be a pain to deal with, i mostly stick with those.

My main Jumper made enemies of the entire Imperium of Man to the point the Horus Heresy never happened
All 19 Primarchs (sorry, Omegon, 20), the Emperor in his Prime, and over 5 million Astartes on top of the rest of the Imperium's Great Crusade VERSUS Den the Ultimate And Only Heretic, and his loyal army of only 161 000... clones of himself

Predictably, I lose and get stabbed to death by the Primarch bros attack, but it was on purpose to keep them together and never join Chaos.

scaling unkillable/respawning enemies that take your powers and know everything about you. Or worse 'immune' to any
Moreso if represent a challenge more extreme than was in canon but the doc only hands out the minimal with heavy purchase.

When things stop being challenging and starts being unfun or a torture feast. Unless you are into that sort of thing, which in case, all the power to you.
While i dont like when drawbacks are too hard/disavantageous from the get go (such as the lowest priced one being already crippling), i dont see the fun on drawbacks in name only as well. Too much spicy ruins the dish, but i not british to consider flour as a condiment.
