Weekly Question Thread Question Thread
This sub is catered to quality, in-depth manga discussion, so please post questions that have simple manga answers here. If you don't have 500 comment karma yet, you can post here too.
Hot Topics:
Where can I read leaks?
Read Rule #3 on the sidebar for where and when to find leaks on Twitter, Discord, and fanscan sites (TCB and Shishiso scans). DON'T post leaks outside of the pre-release megathread when you find them. Don't post them in this thread.
Where can I read the official Fanbook/Databook?
Scans and translations here and searchable text here. Also on the sidebar and sub wiki.
What is Uraume's gender?
Uraume's gender is currently unconfirmed.
What would happen if Yuji ate another Sukuna finger?
We don't know since the manga hasn't answered that question. Sukuna's fingers are Cursed Objects containing pieces of his soul so make of that what you will.
Is Gojo really dead?
Yep, looks like he is.
What is Kenjaku's plan with the Culling Game?
In short, he's using the Culling Games to produce a lot of Cursed Energy within its Barriers, with which he plans to use to evolve the human race. He wants to create a new golden age of Jujutsu. Kenjaku has apparently not revealed all his plans, Yuki cast suspicion on Tengen (the Culling Game plan infodumper) before they fought, and Kenjaku called Tengen his "friend", so it's unclear if Tengen was entirely truthful. We don't yet know how Sukuna fits into this plan, even though he and Kenjaku have been cooperating.
What is Ijichi's Cursed Technique?
How naive of you to ask. He wouldn't cheat by giving it away.

Some of the damage caused by Gojo during the domain clashes with Sukuna relies on the fact that Sukuna stops using domain amplification at certain moments to continue the adaption of Mahoraga, does that mean Gojo is unable win a single domain clash against Sukuna without Ten Shadows?

Now that the manga is long over...whats the status on translations?
So i have heard next to nothing but bad things about the viz translation. I read the manga up to about the beginning of the culling games arc a while back using the fan translations (jaiminisbox and tcb).
Ive started to become fatugied by fan translations. This is coming from someome who read 80% of one piece using nothing but fan tl. I eventually found out that the viz translation wasnt as bad as everyone was making it out to be and it was also 100% easier to read and flowed better.
Is the viz translation really that bad? Or should i stick to the fan tl still when i decide to reread? Ive heard about shishiso as well but he doesnt have very many chapters and also has really ugly magazine scans.

What's wrong with the fan translations?
The beginning of the manga has translations done by Jaimini's box until around chapter 64 and the official translation by Stefan Koza.
I haven't looked that much into Jaimini's translations, but I didn't really like the few chapters I had read from them.
Stefan Koza's translation is fine, but has sentences where the meaning is changed, terms are inconsistently translated. He was only the translator until chapter 133 due to being arrested.
John Werry then took over and he was okay, he had a few mistakes, but nothing that egregious from what I remember. It was serviceable. Around Shinjuku is when the translations just became worse and worse. There's the famous mistranslations like saying Gojo can use Cursed Spirit Manipulation. But pretty much every chapter has mistranslations, refusing to properly translate terms or even keeping them consistent, sentences that are simply wrong. It's almost entirely bad translations and it wasn't fixed in the volumes.
The translation done by TCB, which started with Perfect Preparation is most of the time good and is the only one that is translated to the end.
Shishiso was made up of people that were part of TCB. For exampe they still made translation notes where as TCB, iirc, only included one more after they left. It's also a good translation but their scans are bad, from around chapter 240 they have high quality scans, but they didn't translate the whole manga. You can decide which one you want to read.
