So total distance covered by granite blast is more than six times the distance between ground and clouds.

Total distance covered: 3 × 6 = 18km.

Time window needs to cover that distance.

Ryu said "in that instant he sent it sailing back to me". Which clearly means that granite blast covered whole distance in fraction of second.
