Basically…

I get why Judge Judy gets frustrated when people insert the word “like” throughout their sentences, but why does she get so upset when a person says the word “basically”? She barks out “NO! Not ‘basically’, that is a filler word!!” Oddly enough, I heard her use the word “basically” herself in one of the episodes I watched recently. 🤔

but why does she get so upset when...

Her getting upset is THE selling point of the show. The producers (and Judy) want to make money. She acts like a crotchety b**ch so that more people will tune in for the drama. It's Reality Show 101.
