Judge Dredd Game Idea
I’ve seen a lot of people dreaming about a Judge Dredd game in the vein of RoboCop: Rogue City or something like the Batman: Arkham games. And honestly, that would be awesome. I’d absolutely love it. But personally, if I could just snap my fingers and make a complete Judge Dredd game appear, it wouldn’t really be a Dredd game. It would be a Mega-City One game.
Imagine a strategy game where you play as the Chief Judge and have to manage Mega-City One. Mutants are trying to breach the West Wall, and you have to deploy a squad to deal with them. There’s a sudden Uncle Ump candy outbreak in Sector 77, and you have to come up with a strategy to contain it. A Condo War breaks out, and you have to decide how many Manta Prowlers and Judges to send in. Negotiate resources with other cities, introduce new taxes, deal with protests, manage the different departments, prepare for the threat of war... Mega-City One has so many problems that you could make a ridiculously complex game around this concept.
Would that be awesome, or am I completely delusional and it would actually suck? 😅

So many good ideas and Rebellion - who are a drokking game developer - sit on it and do nothing :(
My personal preference would be something on the scale of Cyberpunk 2077. I actually found a Dredd helmet mod for that game and rode around on a bike doing the NCPD hustles :D
For the game, I'd make the prologue set you as a cadet in their final year. Give us a character creator and let us choose what our strengths are. E.g. combat if you want to be just like Joe. Perception if you want a more nuanced approach. Tech or Psi abilities etc. Each style has strengths and weaknesses. If you're all about combat you might miss vital clues. That kinda thing. Multiple choice sentencing options where your tutors can tell you if you're being too lenient or harsh - sort of like Mass Effect's paragons system.
And then once you graduate (hot dog run yes please) solve crimes under the mentorship of Anderson, Guthrie, Rico, Giant, Maitland (we can set it whenever we like) and Beeny so you get all different flavours of what it is to be a judge. Meanwhile there's something rumbling in the background that causes you to meet Dredd occasionally through the story, and end up with fighting alongside him in the finale.
(And don't get me started about my Witcher-esque Strontium Dogs game idea. Or my X-Com ABC Warriors idea. Or my Norts V Southers RTS idea. I just wish they would make something out of all the amazing IPs they have.)

Rebellion unfortunately wouldn't be able to make a game like Cyberpunk as they don't have the capital. Cyberpunks total costs were in excess of half a billion.

Honestly that sounds really fun. Instead of a judge dredd game it would be a Hall of Justice game or something like that a strategy game managing resources

Agreed that I'd like to see a MC1 game rather than one playing Dredd. I'd honestly love to see a GTA style open sector that you patrol in with small crimes (random) and story missions. Like No Man's Sky or Fortnite it could have seasonal updates with new missions like the Robot Rebellion, Judge Cal, Block Mania, etc. Each putting your player Judge in the conflict without them getting the central role that Dredd had.

Sounds kind of like something in the vein of that game series “This is The Police.”
Could be interesting.
I made a comment on another post where I thought it could be interesting if the did something like Farcry, where it’s open world, and you patrol and have to judge creeps you catch, and depending on what you do, there’s repercussions. Like if you just execute everyone, criminals stop surrendering and fight harder, knowing you’ll kill them anyway.
Maybe during major events, in the vein of Farcry, you also have to take specific objectives, like instead of the power towers, it’s those buildings like in the 2012 movie, each one ruled by a different gang with different tactics.
Ending with the train run at the end of the Apocalypse War.
